Firewood/woodburning stove

Firewood/woodburning stove

If it is not specifically stated in the house presentation, firewood for the fireplace/woodburning stove is not included in the rent price. You can buy firewood by the roadside or at the grocers shop. If firewood is available at the holiday home, it is private property of the house owner. In a few cases you can use the firewood against payment. This will appear from a notice in the holiday home. You have to pay the house owner directly and leave the money for the firewood in the house.

By extreme winds or thunderstorms it may not be possible to use the woodburning stove as the smoke will backfire in the chimney. Use only newspapers for the lighting and dry, chemically untreated wood for burning. Wood that has been collected on the beach contains salt, which can damage the stove. Therefore, please do not EVER use wood that has been found on the beach. The woodburning stove may contain ashes on arrival because the last holiday guest used it and left the hot ashes in the stove. Always leave the hot ashes in a closed stove rather than in an uncontrolled spot near the holiday home or on the site. Overheating of the stove can cause fire risk and damage the oven.
