At Sol og Strand, we strive to run a business that combines economic responsibility with social and environmental considerations. It’s not only about running a healthy business – it’s also about taking responsibility for our surroundings, both locally and globally. That’s why we have a responsibility policy. As part of this, we have worked to obtain a B Corp certification and implement ESG reporting.
We became B Corp certified in December 2025, and we are preparing an ESG report for the year 2025. Together, these two initiatives strengthen our responsibility and transparency – and they give our guests, homeowners, employees, and partners confidence that we conduct business with care. The B Corp certification is an internationally recognised standard for companies working with sustainability, social responsibility, and business ethics. The certification is administered by the American non-profit organisation B Lab, and it sets high demands on how a company operates and impacts society.
To achieve certification, we have documented that we meet a number of strict requirements within:
Environmental impact – how the company reduces its climate footprint and uses resources responsibly
Social responsibility – how the company treats its employees, partners, and the surrounding community
Governance and transparency – how the company ensures good business ethics, responsible management, and openness
After B Lab’s review, we achieved the certification. We are pleased about this, as it emphasises our efforts within responsibility. At the same time, we know that it obligates us, as we must comply with B Lab’s requirements – something we are happy to do, since responsibility is natural to us. The B Corp certification is closely connected to our ESG reporting work. ESG stands for Environmental, Social and Governance and covers a company’s environmental, social, and managerial practices.
Within the environmental area (E), we work with initiatives to reduce CO₂ emissions and promote the use of renewable energy. This includes transitioning to electric vehicles, energy improvements in holiday homes, and a strategy for sustainable procurement.
Within the social area (S), we work with good working conditions, employee well-being, and cooperation with local communities. We have a strong employee culture built around well-being, flexibility, and development – and we support local initiatives that create growth and jobs.
Under Governance (G), we ensure good business ethics, transparency, and clear guidelines for how we run our company. We follow the industry’s guidelines for good corporate governance, have a whistleblower programme, and require our suppliers to act responsibly.
Why this matters to us
As one of Denmark’s largest holiday home rental companies, we see it as our responsibility to lead the way in responsible business practices. We aim to run a company where business and responsibility go hand in hand – and where our guests and homeowners can trust that we act responsibly.
By becoming B Corp certified and implementing ESG reporting, we create a framework for developing our company in a responsible direction – for the benefit of the environment, our employees, and the local communities we are part of. Our work does not end with a certification or a report. We have initiated a process in which we continually measure our efforts, adjust our initiatives, and ensure that we meet the highest standards of sustainable and responsible business operations.
