Trans lies in continuation of the small village Fjaltring, just north of the inlet Nissum Fjord on the western coast of Jutland. The church of Trans is significantly situated only a few metres from the steep slopes of the North Sea. The area, surrounding Trans, is peaceful and scenic. Many leisure activities are available here and the area is ideal for nature lovers.
It is possible to buy groceries in Fjaltring, and you have good shopping possibilities in the towns Lemvig (17 km), Struer (43 km) and Holstebro (44 km), which furthermore offer activities, sights and restaurants.
Between Trans and Fjaltring you will find a 5 km long fine and sandy beach with dunes and steep slopes, which invites beach activities. The water is rather deep in some places and undercurrent can occur.
The nature behind Trans is characterized by forest, moor areas, streams and marsh. From the high dunes and steep slopes by the sea, you have a wonderful view of the North Sea and the area.
By the large wetlands around the 5 km long lake Ferring Sø, which is situated about 4 km north of Trans, a large amount of birds reside. The distance between the North Sea and the lake Ferring Sø is only about 1.5 km.
The 6.7 hectares large plantation Klosterhede Plantage with forest areas, open heaths and river valleys is situated about 10 km inland from Trans.
Anglers have good fishing possibilities from the groynes at the beach in Fjaltring, in the inlet Nissum Fjord as well as in the Put & Take fishponds of the area. If you wish to go deep-sea fishing, you can go out on the sea with a fishing vessel.
At the lake Ferring Sø you can rent your own boat and sail on the lake.
Because of the high cliffs, right north of Trans, hang gliding and paragliding are very popular activities here.
One of the most popular walking routes ''udsigtsruten'' (the route of views) begins by the church of Trans, leads you along the beach to the town Ferring and on along the edge of the cliff, past the lighthouse Bovbjerg Fyr and back to Trans.
The conditions for surfing are good, both on the North Sea and on the inlet Nissum Fjord.
Golf players can try out the courses at Holstebro Golfklub, Holmsland Klit Golfklub in Søndervig, Lemvig Golfklub and Struer Golfklub.
The church of Trans was build in the year 1200, situated right by the North Sea, and because of it''s remarkable location definitely worth a visit.
On the outskirts of Fjaltring, you will find the famous culture centre Tuskær, where you can experience varying exhibitions.
Bovbjerg, 3 km north of Trans, has a rich artistic life, a museum, a gallery as well as a couple of shops and restaurants.
The 26 metres high red lighthouse Bovbjerg Fyr lies at the steep cliffs. The lighthouse is the highest point of the area, and from here it is possible to see as far as 35 km away.
The museum of Jens Søndergaard is situated at the edge of the cliff in Ferring, 4 km towards north. Here the artist painted his pictures of the area and in particular the ocean while quiet and while rough.
In the park ''Vejlby Sommerpark'' you can angle, rent riding horses, drive on front bikes, play minigolf and visit the animals in the pet zoo of the park (14 km).
When you spend your holiday in a holiday home in Trans, you can visit Thyboron with interesting sights like the aquariums and activity centres Kystcentret Thyboron and Jyllands Akvariet (30 km). You can also go on a day trip to the open-air museum Hjerl Hede, which consists of an intact and very charming village from the old days. Here you can experience activities and live demonstrations in the houses, workshops and shops. A visit to Hjerl Hede is both educational and pleasant for the whole family (63 km). A bit further away you will find the amusement park Jesperhus, which offers play centres, a jungle zoo, tropical birds and animals, aromatic flowers and entertainment for the whole family (81 km).
