The holiday area Sædding Strand is located just north of Esbjerg and offers views of the bay Ho Bugt, the island Fanø and the large harbour of Esbjerg. Sædding Strand is famous for its 9 metres high sculpture, Mennesket ved Havet (man by the sea), which is the landmark of Esbjerg. Sædding Strand is an area with both all-year houses and holiday homes, which are situated right behind the lovely beach. A grassy slope leads down to the beach and on the top of the slope you can follow a path along the sea. From here you can see the fine, red-and-white striped lighthouse, Sædding Strand Mellemfyr, and a number of bunkers, from which one has been arranged as a museum bunker and exhibited at the museum Fiskeri- og Søfartsmuseet. The area is very suitable for holiday home rental because of the beaches, the nature and the many sights.
You can buy groceries and dine in the area, and you will find plenty of shops, cafés, restaurants and sights in Esbjerg, 6 km towards south.
The 3 km long beach of Sædding Strand is located in the bay Ho Bugt, right between the white sculptures towards south and the beach park Hjerting Strandpark towards north. The beach offers shallow and calm bathing water of good quality as well as a sandy bottom and grassy slopes with plants behind the beach. From the path on top of the slope, stairs lead down to the beach. From Sædding Strand you can experience an outstanding sunset.
If you wish to experience the fantastic white and wide sandy beaches with dunes by the North Ses, you can go to Fanø Bad on the island Fanø (9 km) or to the beach Hvidbjerg Strand in Blåvand (32 km).
Close to Sædding Strand you will find the Nørreskoven; a beautiful and cosy beech forest with roe deer. The nature park Marbæk is situated towards north. The area is part of Nationalpark Vadehavet and offers a varying nature with moor, forest, meadows, shore and bird sanctuary. From here you can enjoy the view of the island Langli in the bay Ho Bugt. You can walk to Langli at low tide through a 4 km ebb path, which is marked with posts in the seabed, or go with a tractor to the island. The path for Langli starts in Nyeng near Sønderho. You can visit Langli from mid-July to mid-September and se an abundance of resting and breeding birds as well as scenic nature.
On the preserved peninsular Skallingen you can hike, drive on MTB in the wilderness, swim by the beach, search for amber and see a number of birds. Perhaps you can also see seals on the southern tip (33 km).
In the plantations by Vejers you can experience Denmark''s largest population of red deer (29 km).
The area around Sædding Strand invites good nature experiences, like e.g. walks along the shore, in one of the scenic plantations behind the shore, in the nature area Marbæk or to the island Langli. You can also go on a sail in the bay Ho Bugt and see everything from the seaward side.
Right behind the shore you can drive in go-kart and bowl in Funworld.
Anglers have good conditions here. You can fish from the shore or from one of the many Put & Take fishponds behind the shores. Try e.g. Nebel Sø Put and Take, Ho Fiskesø or Broeng Fiskepark.
Golfers can play on the courses of e.g. Breinholtgård Golf Klub, Esbjerg Golfklub and Blåvandshuk Golfbane.
Svømmestation Danmark in Esbjerg offers a great waterworld with many facilities for the whole family.
By the beach you will find Sædding Strand Mellemfyr - a fine, listed red-and-white stribed lighthouse, which is the second oldest iron lighthouse in Denmark.
The 9 metres high, snow-white concrete sculpture, Mennesket ved Havet, repersents 4 men, who are overlooking the sea. The sculpture is the landmark of Esbjerg and was erected in 1995 in the occasion of the town''s 100-years anniversary. The artist behind the work is the sculptor Svend Wiig Hansen.
Right behind the white sculptures in Sædding you will find the museum Fiskeri- og Søfartsmuseet, where you can see varying exhibitions, experience the sea animals in the large saltwater aquarium, greet the seals and watch as they are being fed and take part in amusing activities.
In Sædding Strand you can also see a number of bunkers on the green space between the road and the beach.
Esbjerg offers sights like the art museum Esbjerg Kunstmuseum, Esbjerg Museum, the music house Musikhuset Esbjerg and more art galleries (6 km).
The nature centre Myrthuegård in the nature area Marbæk shows exhibitions about the area, and you can learn more about the nature and history of the region and take part in fun activities for the whole family (14 km).
From Esbjerg you can sail to Fanø in 12 minutes and experience the beautiful and charming island by car or bicycle. Here you will find old idyllic town environments with houses with thatched roofs, beautiful wide and sandy beaches, a unique nature and a number of interesting sights.
In the small and cosy Blåvand Zoo you can experience many different animals. You can stroke goats and rabbits, ride on ponies and play on the playground. Blåvand Zoo is the only zoo in Denmark, where you can experience white lions and giant red kangaroos (31 km).
Go on a daytrip to LEGOLAND, where the whole family can have a good time, admire the LEGO structures and try the many rides. Nomatter if you prefer quiet activities for children or wild action, you will find it here! (59 km).
