Bork Havn is situated right between Denmark's largest lagoon and Denmark's most fascinating bird sanctuary. The holiday town has a number of shops and restaurants, gathered in the commercial street Bryggen, as well as a large marina, which also function as a fishing harbour. It is possible to buy fresh fish on the quay every day. The bathing beach by Ringkøbing Fjord is very pleasant. Bork Havn is a paradise for surfers - the conditions are ideal for windsurfing here and the town has both a surf centre and a surf school.

The beaches by the inlet Ringkøbing Fjord have shallow water and are therefore very suitable for children. The part of the beach, situated north of the harbour, is a lovely place for bathing and sunbathing. South of the harbour, one of Europe's best surf beaches is at your disposal. The area is reserved for windsurfers and the observers of the vivid windsurfing activity on the inlet. Because of the shallow water, the surf beach is safe for both trained and untrained surfers. You are not allowed to bring your car to the beach. About 6 km from Bork Havn the North Sea beach Nymindegab Strand is situated. Here you will find the long, fine sandy beaches with dunes and Blue Flag.


Tipperne is a preserved bird sanctuary, situated on the peninsular Tipperhalvøen in the bottom of the inlet Ringkøbing Fjord. Birds from all of Scandinavia stay here a while on their way between their winter quarters and their breeding areas. A spectacular natural scenery awaits you here. Blåbjerg Klitplantage is one of Denmark's largest dune plantations. With its heather, forest and brushwood it is perfect for long bicycle rides, riding trips or hikes. The 'mountain' Det Blå Bjerg, from which the plantation has its name, is Denmark's most elevated dune - 64 m above sea level. The stream Skjern Å and the meadow area Skjern Enge both have an exceptional bird life. Skjern Å is the most abounding in water in all of Denmark and has a number of turnings and windings. The conservation area Lønborg Hede gives you a characteristic nature experience, as the area has never been cultivated. This unspoiled area has an abundant vegetation and a plentiful bird life.


Windsurfing, kite surfing, angling, kite flying, bathing, sailing on the inlet, walks, bicycle rides, roller skating, mini golf, bird watching and horseback riding are all popular activities in this area. The inlet Ringkøbing Fjord is one of the most famous surf areas in northern Europe as the conditions are ideal. The large shallow areas and the safe surroundings make it both easy and fun to learn to surf here. You can rent equipment for surfing at the surf school.

Worth a visit

In the viking harbour Bork Vikingehavn you will be set back 1,000 years. Experience the viking ships in the harbour, the viking farm and the exhibition. The area is vitalized during the high season. Every year a new exhibition with natural art of various artists is shown at the museum 'Fahl Kro'. The mill Bundsbæk Mølle is one of the few preserved watermills in western Jutland. You can also see a forge and a bakery here. Skjern Vindmølle is one of the few functioning windmills, where corn is milled to flour. In the iron age village Dejbjerg Jernalder you can follow the people of the iron age in their daily chores. At the exhibition, belonging to the village, you can learn about life in western Jutland in the iron age. In the house Hattemagerhuset in Tarm you can sense the daily life in a farmworker house around the year 1900. The farm Gåsemandens Gård is an original, gently restored moorland farm from the year 1789.

Excursion spots

The town Hvide Sande, situated in the middle of the bar Holmsland Klit, is the 5th largest fishing harbour in Denmark. The town offers a mixture of vivid activity and quiet charm. Fish auctions for tourists are arranged here. LEGOLAND, app. 70 km from Bork Havn, is build out of 50 million toy bricks. The park offers a number of opportunities for family activities. In Givskud you can visit a combined lion park and zoo. Meet with more than 1,000 animals from the whole world on the 60 hectares large area. Visit the town Esbjerg with the art museum, the famous sculpture by the sea 'Mennesket ved Havet', the galleries a.s.o. From Esbjerg you can sail to the island Fanø in app. 10 min. The old, idyllic urban environment with it's characteristic, thatched roofs, the scenic nature and the exceptional bathing beaches make Fanø an excursion spot worth visiting.
