Blaavand is a vivid holiday town, both at day and at night, with a cosy atmosphere, a number of shops and several good restaurants, often with outdoor service in the summertime. Besides that the town has more cafés and pubs. Furthermore, the area offers a candle factory, a glassblowing, a pottery, amber-cutters, a zoo as well as more interesting museums. Most of the holiday houses are situated in quiet recreation areas with scenic surroundings, however still close to the town and the many leisure activities. In Blaavand you can rent a lovely holiday home with pool, and in many of our houses you are welcome to bring your dog. Please note: Military training occurs in the area.

Blaavand is surrounded by a wide and white sandy beach, as far as the eye can see, and therefore, holiday home rental is particularly popular in Blaavand. The beach Hvidbjerg Strand, facing south, is sheltered by the reef Horns Rev, which makes the beach very suitable for children. A paradise for everyone, who loves water, beach, sun, wind and water sport. Many concrete bunkers from the World War 2 still characterize the beach around the lighthouse Blaavandshuk Fyr. One of Denmark´s most scenic sunsets over the North Sea can be observed from the beach, the dunes or the town. The beach invites strolls at all times of the year.


Blaavand is surrounded by a magnificent nature with large moors, forest areas, the finest white, sandy beaches, the bluish green roaring North Sea and Blaavandshuk, Denmark´s most western point. The plantations behind Blaavand are inhabited by the country´s larges stock of red deer. Kargaard Plantage is an impressive, hilly landscape with heather and gnarled old oaks. The lake Filso used to be one of the countrys largest lakes, and today the area forms a 150-hectare bird sanctuary. The peninsular Skallingen is a conservation area, which is situated right opposite of Blaavand. It is one of the Danish natural treasures, from which you have a view of both Esbjerg and Fano. Many migratory birds use Skallingen as an eating and resting-place, and they can be observed from the bird tower on the spot.


Blaavand is an area, rich in leisure activities, so you will find plenty of things to do, when you rent a private holiday home here. Blaavand offers ideal conditions for golf, kite flying, angling, beach volley, horse riding, bowling and much more. It is even possible to climb on the bunkers of the beach. The large state forests as well as the lovely beaches of the area invite hikes. Around Blaavand you will find a network of bicycle paths and marked walking paths. The market Ho Faaremarked takes place on the peninsular Skallingen each year in late August and is a huge draw.

Worth a visit

The reef Horns Rev forms the base for the worlds largest offshore wind farm. Visit the windmill exhibition in the building next to the lighthouse Blaavandshuk Fyr - the westernmost point of Denmark. From the 39 m high lighthouse, which was built in 1900, you have an amazing view of the North Sea, the bay Ho Bugt, Blaavand and the surrounding area. Many concrete bunkers from World War 2 still lie around the lighthouse. The church Aal Kirke in Oksbol from the 12th century is famous for its many frescos. A German refugee cemetery is situated right outside Oksbol. Blaavand Naturcenter informs about the nature, the vegetation and the wildlife of the west coast. Tirpitz-stillingen is a reopened bunker, which shows an exhibition about the role of the position in the German coastal defence. In Blaavand Museum you can learn about the inhabitants of the district and the terms of life here throughout the years.

Go visit Esbjerg and experience the charming town with a museum, an art museum, the fishing and shipping museum Fiskeri- og Sofartsmuseet as well as the charming town centre among other things. From the harbour of Esbjerg you can sail to Fano and experience the scenic island with idyllic village environments and a wide sandy beach. You can also go on a day trip to LEGOLAND®, where both children and adults can enjoy the many rides and the sight of the many LEGO® creations.
