Vesterlund is a quiet and small town, situated in the centre of the southern part of Jutland, about 12 km north of Give. An ideal holiday destination if you wish to enjoy nature and fish in the many fishponds and streams of the area. It is possible to buy groceries in Vesterlund. The nearby town Give offers good shopping possibilities and more cultural sights.

By the inlet 'Vejle Fjord' you will find the lovely bathing beach 'Tirsbæk Strand'. The beach is very suitable for children and has been awarded with the Blue Flag. The beach has fine sand and, shallow water, and the bottom is partly sandy, partly stony. If you wish to swim in the sea, the beach of Juelsminde by the Kattegat is situated about 55 km from Vesterlund. The distance to the beach of Stavning by the inlet 'Ringkøbing Fjord' is 75 km and a 90 km drive takes you to the beach of Nymindegab by the North Sea.


Scenic and preserved forest and plantation areas with lakes, streams and a rich animal life surround Vesterlund. North of Vesterlund the upper part of the river valley 'Skjernådalen' is situated, and here you will find the long lakes 'Rørbæk Sø', 'Nedersø' and 'Kulsø'. 'Rørbæk Sø' is the largest of the long lakes and preserved forests and hillsides with heather and juniper bushes encircle it. Here you can fish or walk in the area around the lake. 'Nedersø' is a deep lake with good fishing possibilities. A large open-air swimming pool is available by the southern shore of the lake. 'Kulsø' is also a lovely angling lake, surrounded by a varying, hilly landscape with forests and meadows.


The fishing opportunities are countless in here. It is possible to fish in the lakes and streams of the area, and the two lakes 'Rørbæk Sø' and 'Nedersø' are the most popular fishing spots of the area. A number of Put & Take fishponds are also available in the area - i.a. 'Vester Mølle Dambrug' in Vesterlund. The streams are not only suitable for fishing, but also for sailing in canoe. Lovely nature experiences await you along the many bicycle and walking paths of the area. You will i.a. find marked walking routes around the lake 'Midtsø' and in the forests 'Barsbøl Skov' and 'Klaskeroj Skov'. In Give an 18-hole golf course as well as tennis courts are available.

Worth a visit

The culture-historical museum 'Give-Egnens-Museum' contains i.a. an exhibition about the life and work of the moorland farmer, a herb garden, an apple grove, 25 hectares of forest with lake and paths as well as a historic kitchen. 'Hærvejen' is a thousand of years old ox road and pilgrim route, begins by the German border, leads close past Vesterlund, and ends in Viborg. The scenic road leads you through hills, moor landscapes, river valleys and hardwood forests, past grave mounds from the iron and bronze age as well as stone kerbs from the viking age.

Excursion spots

Givskud is a combined lion park and zoo. Here you drive around among the wild animals and experience both hippos and lions at close range (18 km). LEGOLAND is build out of 50 million toy bricks. More than 50 activities provide you with speed, excitement and experiences! 'The funniest playground for the whole family' offers knights in armaments, pirates, tough cowboys, wild Indians and much, much more (30 km). The cemetery of the small town Jelling contains Northern Europe's most fascinating relics from the viking age - two large runic stones with inscription, which are regarded as the 'birth certificate' of Denmark. Visit the town Vejle, which is surrounded by inlet, forests and beaches or 'town of the year' in 2000, Horsens, with its many cultural offers, the widest pedestrian street in Northern Europe, the inlet and the many museums.
