The holiday house area of Dyngby is centrally located in proportion to sights, larger towns as well as lovely forests and nature areas. In Kattegat, offshore from Dyngby, the islands Tunø and Samsø are situated, and it is possible to visit the islands on a daytrip. You will find many leisure activities along the shore and good shopping possibilities in the town Saksild, 4 km from Dyngby.
The lovely and quiet beach of Dyngby is one of the best bathing beaches in eastern Jutland. The beach is suitable for children because of the shallow water in the edge. Here you will find lots of space for various beach activities and walks. The waves of the Kattegat also provide windsurfers with good conditions.
Forest, green recreational areas, fields and coast surround Dyngby. From the elevated nature areas behind the shore it is possible to see all the way to Mols as well as the islands Samsø and Tunø. The forest 'Marselisborgskovene' is situated in the southern outskirts of Århus - a very scenic area with many bicycle and walking paths. Here you can also get close to i.a. roe deer and wild boar within an enclosed area.
A number of good golf courses are available in eastern Jutland. The closest one is the course of 'Odder Golfklub', but the scenic courses in Århus and Skanderborg are within reach as well. Anglers will find opportunities along the shores - all the way from Norsminde to Hov. Towards north a number of bicycle paths are available along the shore. The many walking paths in the nature areas and the forests by Dyngby enable you to enjoy the scenic nature at close range.
Worth a visit
The district is rich in historic sights, and you can i.a. experience churches and ruins of churches, a long house with stone cists, monuments and ruins from the viking age. 'Den Økologiske Have' (the ecological garden) by Odder is the largest ecological garden in Scandinavia. Get inspired in the large garden with theme gardens, animals, grain and flower fields (7 km). The history of the district can be seen at the regional museum 'Odder Egnsmuseum'. Here you can experience the preserved water and steam mill 'Odder Vand- og Dampmølle', a farmhouse room from the 18th century and more interesting exhibitions (8 km). The old mill 'Gylling Mølle' today appears fully restored and functional, and flour is being milled here (12 km). Moesgård Museum has been established on the manor house Moesgård and contains archaeological collections from both Denmark and the Persian Gulf (24 km).
From Hov, 7 km south of Dyngby, the ferry sails daily to the islands Tunø and Samsø. Tunø has a scenic and varying nature, a mild climate and a cosy, evocative village. Samsø offers a unique nature, peace, quiet, idyll and many leisure activities. Visit Århus, the 'capital' of Jutland, with the amusement park 'Tivoli Friheden', the open-air museum 'Den Gamle By', the music house 'Musikhuset', the small and intimate alleys of the Latin Quarter, the cosy pedestrian streets and the lively atmosphere by the stream 'Vadestedet' (32 km). In Givskud you can visit a combined lion park and zoo. Meet with more than 1,000 animals from the whole world on the 60 hectares large area (93 km). LEGOLAND is build out of 50 million toy bricks. More than 50 activities provide you with speed, excitement and experiences! 'The funniest playground for the whole family' offers knights in armaments, pirates, tough cowboys, wild Indians and much, much more (100 km).
