Near the shores of the Kattegat, which invite a refreshing swim, the holiday area Udsholt Strand is situated. Enjoy the salty sea breeze, the roaring of the waves and the lovely nature of the area. Udsholt Strand is an ideal holiday destination if you wish to spend your holiday by the beach, swimming and sunbathing, but also if you wish to enjoy the island Sealand, which offers a variety of interesting sights and leisure activities. You will find grocery stores within a radius of 2 km. The nearest larger towns area Hillerød (30 km) with the castle Frederiksborg Slot' as it's landmark and Helsingør (32 km), which is the 'gate' to the sound 'Øresund'.
The lovely bathing beach of Udsholt is very suitable for children.
The wide and sandy beach of Smidstrup has stones and a sandy bottom, the Blue Flag as well as a bathing jetty with a rail and stairs. During the summer period lifeguards keep an eye out for the bathers on the beach. Next to the lifeguard station you will find a place for a bonfire. The beach of Smidstrup is one of the few places in Denmark, where you are allowed to light a fire on the beach.
Large, green recreational areas are available right behind the beach.
Enjoy the magnificent sunset from the beach or the bathing jetty.
'Heatherhill' by Rågeleje is a large, preserved, undulating and very scenic area, which stretches all the way down to the Kattegat. The main part of Heatherhill is covered with moor and heather plants and the sheeps walk around freely on the heathery hills. The distinctive hills and valleys invite walks (3 km).
The steep slope 'Gilbjerghoved' by Gilleleje (8 km) is situated about 35 metres above sea level. From here you can enjoy the scenic view of the area and the Kattegat, and in clear weather you can see all the way to the island 'Hesselø'. Gilberg is a popular resting place for migratory birds.
'Tibirke Bakker' is a lovely and preserved nature area with heathery hills. From viewpoints in the area, you can enjoy the great view of the lake 'Arresø', the forest 'Grib Skov' and a bite of the inlet `'oskilde Fjord' (12 km).
You will find good fishing opportunities along the shore and especially by the reef opposite Smidstrup Strand. Furthermore, the area offers a number of Put & Take fishponds.
North Sealand is rich in golf courses, and the courses of 'Passebækgård Golfklub' (12 km), 'Gilleleje Golfklub' (16 km) 'Helsinge Golfklub' (18 km) and 'Asserbo Golf Klub' by Frederiksværk (23 km) are the closest.
The steep slopes and the favourable wind conditions of the area 'Heatherhill' makes the nature area an ideal place for paragliders.
Tennis courts are available in the tourist town Gilleleje (8 km), and lovely nature experiences await you along the many walking paths of the area.
Visit the farm 'Smidstrup-Farmen', where you can meet with all domestic farm animals, drive on a tractor and ride on ponies (4 km).
The tourist town Gilleleje offers an old quarter, idyllic alleys and small fishing houses (8 km). On the cosy harbour, where you will always find a vivid activity and an evocative atmosphere, you can buy fresh fish directly from the fishing boats (6 km). In 'Gilleleje Museum' you can experience exhibitions concerning the fishing industry as well as an old fishing house.
The scenic and preserved area 'Rusland' by Dronningmølle offers i.a. an art museum and a large collection of outdoor bronze statues (16 km).
In North Sealand you will find more interesting castles. With its towers and spires the castle 'Frederiksborg Slot' (28 km) looks like something out of a fairy-tale. The castle 'Kronborg Slot' is situated in Helsingør by the 'gate' to the sound 'Øresund' (32 km). The castle 'Fredensborg Slot' (33 km) is the summer residence of the Queen Margrethe.
Louisiana in Humlebæk is a museum for modern art. The unique museum buildings and the beautiful old park create interesting settings for the art (38 km).
The 'Karen Blixen Museum' at Rungstedlund has been established with gallery, exhibitions, the private living rooms of Karen Blixen, a slide department, a library room and a café (44 km).
Experience the capital Copenhagen with the vivid culture life, museums, music, theatres, galleries, the pedestrian street 'Strøget' and sights like the Tivoli, a planetarium, the art museum 'Carlsberg Glyptotek', the castle 'Rosenborg Slot' with the crown jewels, København Zoo and much more (63 km).
