Tisvildeleje is situated by the lovely shores of North Sealand, directly by the preserved hills ''Tibirke Bakker''. The area beguiles with the heathery hills and the magnificent view of the lake ''Arresø'' - Denmark''s largest lake, the forest ''Grib Skov'' and the inlet ''Roskilde Fjord''. In Tisvildeleje you can enjoy the seaside life by the sandy beach or an eventful holiday with experiences. Tisvildeleje offers tempting restaurants, galleries, shops and a flea market every Saturday during the summer.
The long, white and sandy beach of Tisvildeleje has the Blue Flag, and furthermore, the beach is very suitable for children.
The beach of Rågeleje (9 km), which is a long, sheltered and lovely bathing beach with fine sand and a few rocks, has also been awarded with the Blue Flag. During the school holidays a lifeguard keeps an eye out for the bathers. The beach stretches along with the esplanade and the road ''Strandvejen''. The beach is facing north-west and lies relatively unsheltered by the Kattegat. Therefore wind and kitesurfers will also find good conditions here.
In Liseleje (14 km) you will find a lovely, sandy beach with high dunes at the back. The beach is suitable for children, as the water is shallow by the edge. It has the Blue Flag and during the school holidays, a lifeguard keeps an eye out for the bathers. Surfers will also find good conditions by this beach.
Enjoy a couple of hours in the undulating and scenic nature area ''Tibirke Bakker'', which is a part of the forest ''Tisvilde Hegn''. Give free rein to your imagination in the unique wood of gnarled trees ''Troldeskov'', where the old trees create interesting shapes and figures.
With its 40 square kilometres the lake ''Arresø'' is the largest lake in Denmark. Here you will find good opportunities for walks and bicycle rides along the lake. The route around the lake is 50 km long. It is also possible to go on a cosy sail on the lake (6 km).
With its 5,600 hectares the forest ''Grib Skov'' is one of Denmark''s largest forests (13 km). A number of marked walking and bicycle routes as well as more scenic and historic places are available here. By ''Grib Skov'' you will also find the lake ''Esrum Sø'', which is scenically surrounded by an untouched landscape of forest and meadows. Here you can swim, sail or study the birds of the bird sanctuary.
Both in Tisvildeleje and in Liseleje (9 km) events are arranged during the summer. Look forward to kite festivals, market days and the midsummer celebration with a torchlight procession and a large fire on the beach.
Anglers will find good fishing opportunities for coastal fishing all along the shores of North Sealand.
North Sealand is rich in golf courses. The course of ''Asserbo Golfklub'' (14 km) is one of the oldest and best courses in Denmark, and it is situated in an outstanding nature area by the hill ''Arbakke Bakke'' The course offers challenges for both beginners and experiences golf players.
By Rågeleje (9 km) you will find the area ''Heatherhill''. The steep slopes and the favourable wind conditions of the area makes ''Heatherhill'' an ideal place for paragliders. The wind also creates good conditions for windsurfers.
Visit the church ''Tibirke Kirke'', which is build on top of a heathen place of sacrifice from the antiquity.
The spring ''Helene Kilde'', which is one of Denmark''s most famous health springs, is located by the hillside between Tisvildeleje and the Kattegat. It is said that you will be cured of diseases if you drink water from the spring on the grave of the female Saint Helena at Midsummer night.
By the foot of the hill ''Tibirke Bakke'' a paved path from the iron age ''Oldtidsvejen'' was discovered in 1940 - remember your Wellingtons if you wish to follow it.
Visit the castle ruin ''Asserbo Slotsruin''. The castle was build by monks in the 12th. century. The castle was buried in sand and dug out by the king Frederik VII in the year 1849 (9 km).
Helsinge is an active and cosy commercial town with sights, museums, a pedestrian street, fountains, shops and restaurants (9 km).
Visit Gilleleje with the old quarter, the small fishing houses and the evocative harbour (19 km).
At the museum ''Rudolf Tegners Museum'' in Dronningmølle the plaster and marble sculptures of the sculptor Tegner are exhibited (28 km).
Louisiana in Humlebæk is a museum for modern art. The unique museum buildings and the beautiful old park create interesting settings for the art (36 km).
The ''Karen Blixen Museum'' at Rungstedlund has been established with gallery, exhibitions, the private living rooms of Karen Blixen, a slide department, a library room and a café (38 km).
