North Sealand is a popular holiday area, and Tikøb is situated right in the middle of it. From here it is not far to the lake 'Esrum Sø' (4 km) or the town Helsingør (13 km).
The area offers sights, leisure activities, a ferry connection to Sweden as well as the lovely beaches of the sound 'Øresund'. Tikøb is a small, vivid and active village with shops, a church and a museum. Enjoy a relaxing holiday among the friendly the locals or go on a daytrip to Sweden - the sail with the ferry from Helsingør to Helsingborg takes 20 minutes.
The beaches of the sound 'Øresund' are located 12 km from Tikøb. The beach of Ålsgårde is a small, white and sandy beach with a bathing jetty, and the lovely, fine-grained and sandy bathing beach of Hornbæk is very suitable for children because of the shallow water. Furthermore, this beach offers high dunes, the Blue Flag and lifeguards during the high season. Beach activities like water cycling, beach volley and windsurfing are very popular here. The harbour of Hornbæk is situated behind the beach, and the piers make sure that the beach solely has fine sand.
It is also possible to swim in the lake 'Esrum Sø'. By Fredensborg (15 km) you will find a good bathing spot near the castle 'Fredensborg Slot', which is the summer residence for the Danish Queen Margrethe and the home of the crown prince Frederik and princess Mary.
In the undulating and varying landscape, surrounding Tikøb, you will find 2 large lakes: 'Arresø' - Denmark's largest lake with a water surface of 40 square kilometres - and the lake 'Esrum Sø', which is surrounded by forest. 'Grib Skov' - Denmark's largest deciduous forest is situated right by 'Esrum Sø'.
Sea, lakes, fields and forests characterize the landscape, surrounding Hornbæk (8 km). The undulating terrain provide, which has a rich animal life and vegetation as well as many marked walking and bicycle paths.
'Tibirke Bakker' (25 km) is a lovely and preserved nature area with heathery hills. From viewpoints in the area, you can enjoy the great view of the lake 'Arresø', the forest 'Gribskov' and a bite of the inlet 'Roskilde Fjord'.
It is possible to play minigolf, tennis and beach volley, to ride on horseback, windsurf, drive in a horse drawn carriage or with a vintage train in the area.

The course of 'Asserbo Golfklub' (33 km) is one of the oldest and best courses in Denmark, and it is situated in an outstanding nature area by the hill 'Arbakke Bakke' The course offers challenges for both beginners and experiences golf players.
You will find good fishing opportunities from the shore, in the Put & Take fishponds of the area, on the sea - from a rented dinghy or onboard a fishing vessel, and naturally in the lake 'Esrum Sø'.
By Rågeleje (26 km) you will find the area 'Heatherhill'. The steep slopes and the favourable wind conditions of the area makes 'Heatherhill' an ideal place for paragliders. The wind also creates good conditions for windsurfers.
The cold store of Tikøb 'Tikøb Frysehus' is a small museum, which informs of the time, when we had to do without a refrigerator and a freezer, and tells the story of the past in Tikøb (3 km).
The old Cistercian convent 'Esrum Kloster' from the year 1151 has a beautiful convent garden and a small convent pharmacy. The convent is scenically situated by the lake 'Esrum Sø' (5 km).
The ruins of the castle 'Gurre Slot' (7 km) are also worth a visit. Here the past comes alive, ant it is said that the place is haunted at night.
The art museum 'Hornbæk Kunstmuseum' is a cultural rendezvous with changing art exhibitions (8 km).
In Dronningmølle you will find 'Munkeruphus' - a preserved and idyllically situated country house, which is used for displaying art, handicraft, design, architecture and theme exhibitions.
'Hammermøllen' in Hellebæk (12 km) is a restored mill, which today functions as a museum and café.
The marked town Helsingør offers an evocative marina, numerous shops, good restaurants, the beautiful castle 'Kronborg Slot' as well as number of other sights (13 km). You can also visit the castle 'Fredensborg Slot' and take part in a guided tour (15 km).
