Area

The holiday homes of Stavreby on the peninsular Jungshoved is tranquil and idyllically located, right by the bay of Fakse on the south-eastern part of Sealand. Behind the shore fields and green areas characterize the nature. The high trees of the area fence the sites and provide both shelter and privacy. The scenic route Margueritruten leads right through the pretty Stavreby. 2 km from the holiday area you will find the small and cosy boat harbour Stavreby Bådehavn with fishing boats, dinghies and leisure boats. In Stavreby you will have fresh sea air, peace and tranquillity. You live in the centre of nature and still you are close to activities and sights. It is possible to buy groceries in the town Jungshoved by, which is located 4 km from Stavreby. In Præstø (14 km) you will find shops and restaurants. 100 km from here Copenhagen offers city atmosphere, sights and amusements for the whole family.

 

Beach

The grass grows all the way down to the water’s edge in Stavreby, but it is still possible to swim here. You will find more small and good bathing beaches both to the north and south of Stavreby, but if you wish to enjoy a lovely wide and white sandy beach with dunes and inviting bathing water, you can visit the peninsular Feddet, which is located app. 25 km towards north.

Nature

Stavreby is surrounded by the bay Fakse Bugt as well as fields and green areas. Near Bønsvig, 4 km towards north, you will find a small and cosy forest with e.g. a famous grave mound. Feddet, a 5 km long peninsular, which stretches through the inlet Præstø Fjord, offers a varying nature. The moor area with dunes and salt meadows is a natural amenity, and furthermore it has a rich birdlife, which can be observed from a gazebo on the spot. The inlet Præstø Fjord, the small island Maderne and the peninsular Feddet are all appointed bird sanctuaries (28 km). Visit the spectacular cliffs Møns Klint (48 km towards south-east) and Stevns Klint (58 km towards north), and let yourselves be fascinated by the beautiful views.

Activities

The scenic and peaceful nature, surrounding Stavreby, invites walks and bicycle trips in the open. You can go on a sail on the inlet Præstø Fjord with the tour boat Fjordkaperen, which sails from Præstø to the harbour Fed Havn on Feddet. Anglers can throw in the line in the bay Fakse Bugt from the shore or visit one of the Put & Take fishponds of South Sealand. Golf players can test the 18-hole park court with lakes and streams of Sydsjællands Golfklub (28 km). Furthermore the golf clubs Falster Golfklub and Møns Golfklub are located within a short driving distance from Stavreby.

Worth a visit

Near Bønsvig, 4 km towards north, you can see the grave mound ‘Svend Gønges Hule’. The small passage grave is named after the Danish guerilla Gønge, who was seeking shelter here in the 17th century. At the manor house Nysø near Præstø you can experience the sculpture collection ‘Thorvaldsens Samlingen’ (14 km). Præstø is a charming old commercial town. Here you will find shops, cosy restaurants and craftsmen among other things (14 km). Visit the maze park Kalvehave Labyrintpark, which challenges both children and adults when they set out on a journey into the maze (21 km).

Excursion spots

The commercial town Vordingborg offers a number of sights and leisure activities. The landmark of the town is the tower Gåsetårnet, which belongs among one of Denmark’s greatest castle ruins from mediaeval times (25 km). Geomuseum Fakse exhibits more than 500 different fossils. The nearby limestone quarry Fakse Kalkbrud is 45 m deep and here you can find fossils of e.g. sharks and crocodiles, which lived here millions of years ago (33 km). Bonbonland in Holme-Olstrup offers more than 70 activities for the whole family, e.g. the switchback Vildsvinet, rafting courses, carousels, circus, children’s theatre, a pirate island and much more (45 km). Come close to the wild animals in Knuthenborg Safaripark near Bandholm on Lolland. Here the animals live in their natural habitats - right around your car (85 km). Visit the capital Copenhagen with city atmosphere, sights, attractions, culture and unsurpassed shopping opportunities (100 km).
