Kregme is a cosy North Sealand village, which is located 4 km south-east of Frederiksværk. The village was built by the Kattegat bay of the Viking age, the present lake Arresø, which is Denmark's largest lake.
Just a few kilometres from Kregme you will find fine sandy beaches as well as grocery shops. If you with to go shopping, you can visit Frederiksværk, which offers good speciality shops and restaurants.
Just 10 km from Kregme you can enjoy the great child-friendly and sandy beach in Liseleje by the Kattegat. The beach has been awarded with the Blue Flag, and during the school holiday a lifeguard watches the beach guests when they swim. You can also surf by this beach. Another option is the seaside town Tisvildeleje (app. 18 km), where you will find a long white and child-friendly sandy beach - equally with Blue Flag.
The beach in Rågeleje (app. 24 km) is a long and lovely bathing beach with find sand and few pebbles. The beach is located along the beach esplanade og both wind and kite surfers will find good conditions here.
With its 40 km2 Arresø (app. 2 km) is Denmark's largest lake. If you like nature activities, you can hike or cycle along the lake. A bike ride around the lake is 50 km long. But a cosy sail on the lake is also an option. Tibirke Bakker (app. 18 km) is a scenic and preserved nature area with heathery hills. From a viewpoint in the area you can enjoy a great view of Arresø, the forest Gribskov and a bite of the inlet Roskilde Fjord.
Gribskov (17 km) is one of the largest forests in Denmark. It offers a great number of marked hiking and bicycle routes as well as more beautiful and historic spots. Near Gribskov the lake Esrum Sø i located in an untouched landscape with forests and meadows. Here you can swim, sail and study birds in the bird sanctuary.
The area, surrounding Kregme, offers good angling opportunities, and you can fish from the shore or from a boat on a lake Arresø.
Golfers can try several good golf courses in this area. The courses of Asserbo Golf Club (6 km) and Frederikssund Golfklub (17 km) are the closest ones. Asserbo Golf Club is the oldest in Denmark, and it is located in a nature area near Arrenakke Bakke. Here you will find courses for both beginners and experienced golfers.
Near Rågeleje (app. 23 km) you will find the nature area Heatherhill. The high slopes and favourable wind conditions turn the area into an attractive spot for paragliders and windsurfer.
Visit the museum farm Birkely in Kregme, which displays a typical farm from the 19th century. The church Kregme Kirke was originally a Romanesque boulder building, but later more late gothic buildings were added. The castle ruin Asserbo Slotsruin (app. 6 km) is also worth a visit. The castle was built by monks in the 12th century. Later it was sanded up, and it was not unearthed until the year 1849.
Go on an excursion to the old fishing village Gilleleje with its small fishing houses and the cosy and evocative harbour (app. 40 km).
At Vikingeskibsmuseet in Roskilde you can learn more about the Vikings and their ships. You can also go on a sail on the inlet of Roskilde in one of the ships of the museum (40 km).
The castle Frederiksborg Slot in Hillerød (18 km) is definitely worth a visit. The castle was built in the 17th century by Christian IV and is an imposing castle of great magnificence.
A must is the capital Copenhagen (52 km) with attractions like for example Tivoli, the aquarium Den Blå Planet, the experience centres Planetarium and Experimentarium, the museum Carlsberg Glyptotek, the castle Rosenborg Slot and Copenhagen Zoo.
