If you like sun, sea and a varying landscape, the holiday area of Hundested can be an ideal holiday destination for you. Especially anglers and sailors will appreciate a holiday on the tongue 'Halsnæs', which is surrounded by water on 3 sides. The hospitality and the unique atmosphere make Hundested a lovely holiday area as well. Hundested is the place on Sealand, which has the most sunshine hours and receives the smallest quantity of rain. The holiday house area is situated only a few hundred metres from the sea. It is possible to buy groceries in the area, and Hundested (6 km) as well as Frederiksværk (10 km) are the nearest larger towns.
The bathing beach by the road 'Gråstenvej' is situated about 2 km from the holiday house area and has the Blue Flag. In Lynæs (7 km) you will find one of the best surf areas in Denmark.
The lovely and sandy beach of Liseleje is situated only 9 km from Hundested. The beach has dunes, is suitable for children, is awarded with the Blue Flag and a lifeguard keeps an eye out for the bathers during the school holidays. Surfers will also find good conditions by this beach.
Follow f.x. the marked walking path 'Halsnæsstien' - on foot or on bicycle. 'Halsnæsstien' connects the different inlet and sea areas with each other and leads you through a varying landscape with small villages. The total route is about 12 km long.
With its 40 square kilometres the lake 'Arresø' (10 km) is the largest lake in Denmark. You will find good walking and bicycle possibilities along the lake. The route around the lake is 50 km long. It is also possible to go on a cosy sail on the lake.
The hills 'Tibirke Bakker' (18 km) are a lovely and preserved nature area with heathery hills. From a viewpoint in the area you can enjoy the great view of the lake 'Arresø', the forest 'Gribskov' and a bite of the inlet 'Roskilde Fjord'.
The forest 'Gribskov' (31 km) is with its 5,000 hectares one of Denmark's largest forests. Here you will find a number of marked walking and bicycle routes as well as more scenic and historic places.
Hundested and the immediate surroundings offer numerous activities. Look forward to i.a. concerts, flea markets and a harbour festival. The tourist town Liseleje (9 km) also offers numerous arrangements throughout the summer. Here you can experience a kite festival, market days and the midsummer party with a torchlight procession and a large Midsummer Day fire on the beach.
The golf course of Asserbo Golfklub (9 km) is the oldest and one of the best golf courses in Denmark. It is situated in a lovely nature area by the hill 'Arrenakke Bakke' and offers challenges for both beginners and experienced golf players.
By Rågeleje (26 km) you will find the area 'Heatherhill'. The steep slopes and the favourable wind conditions of the area makes 'Heatherhill' an ideal place for paragliders. The wind also creates good conditions for windsurfers.
Anglers will find good opportunities for coastal fishing all along the coast of North Sealand.
Visit 'Kikhavn' (5 km) - the oldest fishing harbour on the tongue 'Halsnæs' from the 13th. century.
In the scenic fortress area of Hundested from the year 1807 you will find the house of the arctic explorer Knud Rasmussens (5 km). The house today function as a museum and looks exactly like the day, it was abandoned.
In Hundested you can enjoy the vivid life of the fishing harbour and marina or the cosy atmosphere of the shops, restaurants and the smoke house. Hundested is not a typical tourist town, even thought it is very attractive with its white, sandy beaches and fragrant pine forests.
In the forest 'Grønnesse Skov' (8 km) you will find 'Karlssten' - one of the largest and most beautiful cromlechs in Denmark. This rock can only be reached by foot by following the blue signs from the estate 'Grønnesse Gods'.
Visit the castle ruin 'Asserbo Slotsruin', which was build by monks in the 12th. century (11 km).
In North Sealand you will find the castles 'Frederiksborg Slot', which looks like something out of a fairy-tale with its towers and spires (31 km), and 'Fredensborg Slot', which is the summer residence of the Queen Margrethe (39 km).
Louisiana in Humlebæk is a museum for modern art. The unique museum buildings and the beautiful old park create interesting settings for the art (48 km).
The museum of Karen Blixen at the estate 'Rungstedlund' has been established with galleries, exhibitions, the private living rooms of Karen Blixen, a slide department, a library and a café (50 km).
Visit the capital Copenhagen with sights like the Tivoli, a planetarium, the art museum 'Carlsberg Glyptotek', the castle 'Rosenborg Slot' with the crown jewels, København Zoo and much more (65 km).
