Slettestrand is a recreational area with some of the most beautiful and most varying nature that Denmark can offer. By the lovely bathing beach you will find a shot down life saving station and close by the coastal fishermen still draw up their boats on the beach every day after use. The town contains a grocer and more restaurants. 10 km behind the shore Fjerritslev offers good shopping opportunities, restaurants and sights.
The fascinating nature has attracted many craftsmen, who have settled here, and you can visit most of them and see them work in their workshops and galleries.
For nature lovers Slettestrand is the ideal holiday destination. Here you will find a lovely bathing beach as well as peaceful and scenic surroundings - right outside your door. And a short drive brings you to the holiday towns, commercial towns, golf courses, fishponds, tourist attractions and amusements of the area.
Slettestrand has a lovely, wide and sandy beach with a few stones and Blue Flag. The beach is traffic-free and sheltered by low dunes. The vast North Sea beach invites all kinds of beach and watersport activities. Among other things the conditions for surfing are good here. This beach is equally well-attended by the locals.
The nature, surrounding Slettestrand, is characterized by contrasts. Here you will find the lovely sandy beach with dunes, varying forest terrain, moor landscapes, meadows and fertile agricultural land.
The peace and quiet of the Slettestrand nature is highly appreciated. Nature creates the best settings for recreational expansions and nature experiences.
The dune plantation Svinkløv Plantage contains many good walking paths, and it is not impossible to come across roe deer in the plantation. You can follow an old German concrete road, which leads through the forest and out to the spot Sømærket. Here you stand high above the sea and are able to enjoy a magnificent view of the North Sea and the area. The stream Slette Å flows right through the plantation. Fosdalen is a large, undulating and very scenic valley with a stream in the bottom, and it debouches into Lien - the country's largest inland hillside, which is 66 m high (5 km).
The beautiful nature invites walks. The good, marked walking paths of the area between Slettestrand, Svinkløv and Grønne Strand make sure that you are guided around the most scenic areas. In the area around Slettestrand you can use a 22 km long and very scenic mountain bike route, which is located in some of Denmark’s best mtb terrain.
Because of the wind in the area, windsurfers will find good conditions here.
It is possible to fish directly from the beach or try out one of the Put & Take fishponds of the area, f.x. the nearby and very scenic Gøttrup Fiskepark. You can also go deep-sea fishing with a fishing hamlet from Hanstholm (57 km).
Golf players can test the courses of f.x. Jammerbugtens Golfklub near Fjerritslev, where the 18-hole course is naturally laid out (10 km) or Blokhus Klit Golfklub with both an 18-hole and a 9-hole course (23 km).
This area is rich in artist craftsmen, and pottery, stoneware, paintings, raku and glass art among other things are exhibited in the workshops and galleries of the artists.
The distinctive and beautifully restored seaside hotel Svinkløv Badehotel is very scenically situated on the beach of Svinkløv (2 km).
In Grønne Strand you can experience Denmark's only preserved windmill, which is covered with heather on all sides (7 km).
The brewery museum 'Fjerritslev Bryggeri- og Egnsmuseum' is Northern Europe¿s best-preserved rural brewery. The brewery appears like in the old days with 100-years old coppers, fermenting tubs and beer barrels. The brewer farm Bryggergården, which has been converted to a museum, also contains a malt house and a bottling hall (10 km). In Fjerritslev you can also visit Han Herred Naturcenter and learn more about the nature and animal life of the area.
The fortification Aggersborg near Aggersund contains traces of 48 long houses. By the stronghold you can see an exhibition about the construction of the castle (20 km).
Kokkedal Slot near Brovst is an impressive castle with three wings in 2 stories with a very interesting history (21 km).
The cosy and popular holiday resort Blokhus offers shops, restaurants, pubs, ice-cream stalls, a bowling centre, entertainment and atmosphere (26 km).
The 47 m high calcareous rock Bulbjerg is inhabited by sea birds, and from the cliff you can enjoy a magnificent vies of the bay Jammerbugten. Visit the small exhibition in the bunker on the top of the cliff - Denmark's only bird cliff (29 km).
In the amusement park Fårup Sommerland & Aquapark you can try out more than 50 interesting entertainments for the whole family, including Denmark's largest aquapark and Denmark's longest switchback Falken (46 km).
