Skagen, Vesterby is the neighbourhood by the southern part of the harbour area. From here a short walk brings you to the charming harbour, the vivid town centre, the plantation Skagen Plantage and the beach Damstederne Strand. In Vesterby you can enjoy the evocative urban environment and the traditional Skagen houses with red tiled roofs and white edgings, and nearby you will find shops, cafés, ice-cream stalls, pubs and restaurants, which serve tasty fish courses among others.
The dune plantation Skagen Klitplantage borders on the quarter, and at the edge of the plantation you can admire the remarkable, former royal summer residence Klitgården. The beautiful building is built in traditional Skagen style and today, it functions as a haunt for artists and students.

The beach Damstederne Strand by Vesterby is a lovely and child-friendly Kattegat beach. The beach has been awarded with the Blue Flag and is famous for its high dune 'Stokmilen'. From the beach you can enjoy the view of the buried church 'Den Tilsandede Kirke'.
3 km towards north you can swim by the beach Skagen Sønderstrand. This sandy beach is equally lovely and family-friendly, and furthermore it has the characteristic bascule light as its landmark. Here you will find dunes, hollows and Blue Flag. This is where the Skagen painters found the inspiration for many of their famous paintings. Every year at midsummer a 'Skt. Hans' fire is lit here on the beach.

One of Europe's largest migrating dunes, Råbjerg Mile, is app. 40 m high. It moves up to 15 m annually and has created a miniature desert of app. 1 km2 southwest of Skagen. The sand drift has left Råbjerg Stenene - a stone plain, which has come into existence because the fine sand from Råbjerg Mile is moved, and the large rocks stay behind. From the highest point of the dune you can as far as Grenen (16 km).

The tower of the buried church 'Den Tilsandede Kirke' rises from the sand in a scenic plantation area. The vast sand drift of the area is responsible for the burial of the church (3 km).
Farm Fun by Ålbæk is a zoological park with a play area. Come close to the animals of the farm, like f.ex. hogs, cows, sheep, kangaroos, emus, ponies, rabbits, goats, guinea pigs, peacocks and lamas, or try the amusing moon cars, the swings and the bouncing cushion (20 km).
Visit the interesting eagle sanctuary Ørnereservatet near Tversted. During the summer you can get close to some of the world's largest eagle species and watch them being fed in the air. Experience the peregrine falcon, gerfalcon, goshawk, golden eagle and white-tailed eagle (28 km).
The museum Nordsømuseet in Hirtshals is the holder of Europe's largest salt-water aquarium Ocenariet with 4.5 million litres of water. At Nordsømuseet you can experience app. 60 species of fish from the North Sea and even touch some of them (49 km).
