The holiday home area Kjul Strand is located app. 5 km north-east of Hirtshals. On the beach of Kjul you can see a number of wrecks from the period when the craft trade with Norway took place here.
Almost all holiday homes of the area are located in a dune plantation, which is scheduled as a natural amenity. Therefore, Kjul is an ideal holiday destination if you prefer to spend your vacation in beautiful and tranquil surroundings.
It is possible to buy groceries in the area, and Hirtshals offers shops, restaurants, sights and leisure activities.
The beach of Kjul is one of the best sandy beaches in the country, and the Blue Flag indicates that the bathing beach is well-kept and that the water is pure. Low dunes with lyme grass shelter the beach. Motoring is allowed on the beach.
The opportunities for windsurfing on the waves of the sea are good.

Kjul is surrounded by a hilly and very beautiful nature with beach, dune plantation, moor and forest. In this area you will find curative herbs, which have been used by the inhabitants of Vendsyssel throughout generations as an ingredient in the schnapps of the district - ''Bjasken''.
The forest Lilleheden Klitplantage is located between Kjul and Hirtshals, and here you can enjoy the varying birdlife. Furthermore, the landscape offers fragrant coniferous trees, beech trees, fruit bushes, fungus, hills, fields and the stream Kjul Aa. The water of this stream was formerly said to have a healing effect.
The plantation Uggerby Plantage is situated between Kjul and Tversted, and here you will find a rich vegetation and animal life. The stream Uggerby Aa flows through the beautiful landscape, and can be admired both from the road and from a hiking/bicycle path.
Hirtshals Golfklub, which is located in Kjul, has an 18-hole, slightly hilly golf course as well as a 9-hole Pay & Play course at its disposal (11 km).
You can rent riding horses in the area and ride in the dune plantations and on the beach, or rent canoes and sail on the pretty stream Uggerby Aa.
The area offers good fishing opportunities. You can fish directly from the beach of Kjul, in the nearby Put & Take fishponds, in the stream Uggerby Aa, in the harbour of Hirtshals and by the lighthouse in Hirtshals. If you wish to go deep-sea fishing, you can go out with a fishing vessel from the harbour of Hirtshals to different wrecks or reefs - e.g. Det Gule Rev.
In Hirtshals Bowling Center you can bowl, play air hockey, billiards etc.
Fun-Park in Hirtshals is a large nature area with activities for children, like e.g. Indian camp, bouncing cushions etc. as well as a petting zoo with more animal species.
In Kjul you can visit a pottery with articles for everyday use and stoneware as well as a sculptor, where the stones of nature are processed.
The commercial town Hirtshals offers a large harbour, good shopping opportunities, restaurants and sights (5 km).
The 144 steps of the lighthouse Hirtshals Fyr lead you up in a height of 35 m and here you can enjoy a magnificent view of the sea, the shore and the landscape.
The aquarium Nordsomuseet in Hirtshals contains Europe''s largest saltwater aquarium: Ocenariet, which holds 4.5 million litres of water. At Nordsomuseet you can experience about 60 different fish species from the North Sea, and you can even touch some of them. In Hirtshals you can also visit Bunkermuseet Hirtshals 10. Batteri - a complete bunker installation from World War II with a museum (15 km).
A visit to the eagle sanctuary Ornereservatet in Tuen near Tversted belongs to a holiday in this area. Experience the aviation of the magnificent birds of prey, come close to some of the world''s greatest eagle species and watch them being fed in the air (18 km).
Visit the idyllic and evocative fishing hamlet Lonstrup, which is famous for its many galleries and handicraft workshops among other things (33 km).
A sand drift museum has been established near the lighthouse Rubjerg Knude Fyr from 1900, and from the lighthouse, which is going to sand up in a few years, you can enjoy the beautiful view of the sea and the landscape (38 km).
In the amusement park Faarup Sommerland you can try out more than 50 interesting entertainments for the whole family, including Denmark''s largest aquapark and Denmark''s longest switchback Falken (52 km).
