Voerså lies between Frederikshavn and the mouth of the Liim Fiord on the east coast of Jutland. The area, surrounding Voerså, is famous for its unspoiled nature and its good sandy beaches, which are very suitable for children. Voerså has its own cosy fishing harbour and marina as well as a more than 300 years old inn, where you can rent rowboats and water cycles and sail up the stream and experience the genuine Danish nature. In Lyngså, a few km north of Voerså, it is possible to buy groceries.
Along the dam by the harbour of Voerså you can swim from a small sandy and south facing beach with shallow and child-friendly water. On the stones at the end of the dam, you can sometimes see seals, if you are in luck. A couple of km towards the north, by the beach of Lyngså, you will find one of the best bathing beaches of the east coast. The 10 km long, white and very child-freindly sandy beach has shallow water and a lovely sandy bottom. The beach of Lyngså is also very suitable for windsurfing.
Voerså and the surrounding nature are peaceful and idyllic. By the lake 'Dybvad Sø' you can fish, follow a path around the lake or relax on the one of the large lawns under the old beech trees. Between Albæk, a few km inland, and Voerså lays the fascinating hilly moraine country 'Holtbjerg'. Here you can enjoy the lovely view of the sea and the small villages of the area. Don't miss the seven bronze age mounds of 'Holtbjerg'. The plantations 'Professorens Plantage', a few km towards north, are moor areas with dunes, pines, heather, mulberry bushes and a rich bird life. The landscape along the stretch of coast between Stensnæs and Voerså is a bird sanctuary, which consists of salt meadows, reed swamps and cultivated areas.
You can rent bicycles, water cycles and boats in the area and experience nature in a fun and different way. Anglers have good possibilities for a haul here, as you can fish directly from the coast, in the lake 'Dybvad Søpark' and in the stream 'Voer Å'. 2 lovely golf courses are situated near Voerså; 'Hals Golfklub' and 'Sæby Golfklub'.
