The charming, tranquil and attractive market town Sæby is located on the north-eastern coast of Jutland, app. 10 km south of Frederikshavn.

In Sæby you can experience an old market town environment with well-preserved houses, a pedestrian street, squares, cobbled streets, the watermill by the stream Sæby Å as well as a cosy harbour atmosphere with a marina, fishmongers, a smokehouse and restaurants. Furthermore, the town has a glass factory, good shopping opportunities with super markets and specialist shops as well as more restaurants. The lovely, child-friendly and sandy beach can be followed along a path by the water. On the outskirts of the town you can visit a historic Renaissance manor house. Each year Sæby attracts many artists, tourists and local visitors because of its charm, its well-preserved environment and its beautiful nature surroundings.
The lovely, child-friendly and sandy beach has been awarded with the Blue Flag and is divided up by stone dikes. The water is calm and shallow. A path has been laid out all the way along the beach. The beach invites swimming, sunbathing and engagement in beach and watersport activities.
The stream Sæby Å turns and twists through an idyllic park all the way down to the beach. The nature, surrounding Sæby, is characterized by sea, forest, fields and green recreational areas. In the forest Søbygård Skov with deep ravines and a rich birdlife you can follow 3 marked walking routes. The plantation Professorens Plantage between Sæby and Lyngså is a dune and moor area with pines, heather, mulberry bushes and a rich animal life. The ridge Jyske Ås is a conservation area between Dronninglund and Østervrå with steep hills and old growth, remains of a primeval forest and a rich animal life.
Windsurfing and kayak paddling are popular activities here. Furthermore, the area is very suitable for walks and bicycle rides. A bowling alley is also available in the town. Golf players can try out the two nearby 18-hole golf courses - one in Sæby and in Frederikshavn. Anglers will consider Sæby an attractive area, as it is possible to fish from a boat, directly from the shore or in the streams Sæby Å and Voer Å.
The sculpture 'Fruen fra Havet' is the landmark of the town and can be admired on the harbour. The watermill originates from the 17th century, and the sight of the idyllic settings is very picturesque. Sæby Museum is housed in a beautiful half-timbered building and contains a classroom from the 1920'ies, a Victorian style living room, a farm hands' room, a general store and a violin workshop among others. Here you are carried back to the old days. The Renaissance manor house Sæbygård is surrounded by wide moats, and here you can experience Denmark's oldest stair turret and an interesting manor house museum. The spring Sæby Jernkilde is famous for its therapeutic and life-giving water. The charming manor house Bangsbo with a museum is located in Frederikshavn and includes two of the area's oldest half-timbered buildings. In connection with the manor house you will find a botanical garden, an animal park, a stone garden as well as a garden with medicinal and aromatic plants (10 km).
Frederikshavn is a good commercial town, from which you can go on day trips to Sweden. A drive on the top the hills from Sæby to Frederikshavn provides you with a lovely view of the sea, the town and the landscape. Visit the tranquil and idyllic town Voerså (15 km). By the old inn you can rent rowboats and water cycles and admire the genuine Danish nature from the stream. The castle Voergård Slot near Flauenskjold is one of Denmark's most beautiful Renaissance buildings. With its park, moats, French art treasures and fine collection of furniture and interior it is definitely worth a visit (17 km). Farm Fun near Ålbæk is an animal park with a play land. Come close to the animals of the farm; pegs, cows, sheep, kangaroos, emus, ponies, razorbacks, rabbits, goats, guinea pigs, peacocks and lamas, or try out the amusing moon cars, the swings or the bouncing cushion (32 km). Visit Skagen, the top of Denmark, with the fishing harbour, museums, shops and restaurants (53 km).
