By Ydø, south of Nakskov, you can experience some of the country's most spectacular coast scenery.

Ydø is situated by the inlet Nakskov Fjord and the app. 7 km long narrow tongue Albuen - Lolland's most westerly point. The waters Femerbælt, Langelandsbæltet and Nakskov Fjord surround the recreational area, which is dammed by a 60 km long dike with a bicycle path, which leads from Ydø to the port Rødby.
Along Albuen you will find a lovely bathing beach on the one side as well as shallow, stagnant water with a rich bird life on the other side. You can walk or take the tour boat from Nakskov to the tip of the tongue, where you will find a lighthouse, fishing houses, a small museum/nature centre as well as tables and benches. Furthermore, a windmill farm with 24 windmills is situated here.
Ydø is an ideal holiday destination for nature lovers, anglers and others, who enjoy relaxing in quiet, undisturbed and cosy surroundings.
It is possible to buy groceries in Ydø, and Nakskov offers good shopping opportunities as well as innumerable sights (13 km).
On the western side of Albuen you will find a lovely, more kilometres long sandy beach with inviting, child-friendly bathing water and small dunes, covered with lyme grass. Behind the beach you will find the sheltering salt meadows with grazing sheep and heifers. The beautiful beach has been awarded with the Blue Flag.
The app. 7 km long tongue Albuen, which sticks out from Ydø and into the belt Langelandsbæltet and which shelters the inlet Nakskov Fjord from the sea, is a lovely nature area with a rich vegetation and bird life, great bathing beaches, meadows, marshes, lakes and walking paths. The tongue is merely 25 metres wide at its most narrow place. Here you can experience the waves of the belt Langelandsbæltet brake on the one side and the tranquil water of the inlet Nakskov Fjord with islands and islets on the other side.
Fields, meadows and forests characterize the level landscape behind Ydø. More scenic walking and bicycle paths are available by the sea - among others the 40 km long path 'Digestien', which leads you from Ydø to the port of Rødby along the belt Femeren Bælt.
With its versatile and scenic landscape, Albuen is ideal for walking, bathing, fishing and studying birds. You will find good opportunities for wade fishing in Nakskov Fjord. Furthermore, Put&Take fishponds are available in the area, fx by Nybro in Nakskov.
You can go sailing between Nakskov and the tip of Albuen and see it all from the seaside.
Along the bicycle and walking path 'Digestien' you can enjoy the scenic view of the belt Femeren Bælt.
Golf players can choose between a couple of beautiful courses. The nearest is available by Vestlollands Golfklub in Halsted (20 km). It is also possible to make use of a 9-hole Pay&Play course by the holiday village Lalandia in Rødby (39 km) as well as the 18-hole course of Golfklubben Maribo Sø in Maribo.
In addition, Lalandia offers a bowling alley and the island's greatest aquapark, which is open to everybody. Here you will find 250 metres of water slides, wave machine, jacuzzies, saunas and large pools for both children and adults.
In Vesternæs, 3 km from Ydø, you can experience Kappel Stubmølle - Denmark's only mill with a thatched roof. The mill has been restored and is fully functional.
You can also visit the small museum/nature centre on the tip of Albuen, where a nature guide can tell you about the unusual place.
Galleri TILE in Nakskov exhibits works of different artists, and here you can buy art in all price ranges (13 km).
Nakskov offers these interesting sights: Danmarks Sukkermuseum, which tells the story of the sugar through 130 years, the botanical garden Peter Hansens Have, Den Gamle Smedje (the old forge), Det Gamle Trykkeri (the old printing works) as well as the shipping museum Nakskov Skibs- og Søfartsmuseum.
At the manor house Pederstrup by Horslunde you will find the museum Reventlow-Museet and a park from the 1870'ies with rare and very old trees (24 km).
At the Pole barracks Polakkasernen in Tågerup, which functions as a museum today, you can have a glimpse of the life and work of the Polish women, who worked in the beet fields (41 km).
In Knuthenborg Safaripark by Maribo the wild animals are interacting in natural environments - right around your car or bus. Experience fx giraffes, rhinos, ostriches, antelopes, zebras and Siberian tigers at close range (47 km).
The open-air museum in Maribo is situated by the lake Maribo Sø and consists of a couple of houses, a farm, a post mill and a school, which all give you an impression of the peasant culture and the architectural style of the place around the year 1800 (47 km).
