The cosy town Vilsund is surrounded by blue water and green recreational areas. Enjoy the vivid town life as well as the atmosphere in the cosy marina, from which you can go on a sail on the Liim Fiord.
Experience the traditional horse and huckster fair, which takes place in Vilsund each summer and is attended by all inhabitants of the town.
You can swim, fish, walk, drive on bicycle, study birds or merely enjoy the lovely, unspoiled nature that surrounds the town.
Vilsund offers a café, an inn as well as shopping opportunities, and do you need more, you can visit Thisted, 14 km towards north, where you will find more shops, restaurants, sights and a cosy harbour atmosphere.
Close to the bridge you will find a lovely and child-friendly beach with shallow and calm bathing water. The beach is app. 500 metres long and consists of coarse sand and stones. It is also possible to make use of a bathing jetty here.
Do you wish to swim by the broad, white and sandy beaches with waves and high dunes, the North Sea beaches are situated only about 20 km from Vilsund.

Skyum Bjerge is a highly situated, hilly country with moor, forest, ponds and beach. From the highest points of this area you can enjoy a great view of the Liim Fiord and the area Mors (7 km).

The inlet enables you to swim, surf, sail, water-ski, dive and fish. You can fish from the piers of Vilsund as well as in the Put & Take fishponds of the area. Furthermore, you can go deep-sea fishing on the reef Det Gule Rev with a fishing vessel from fx Hanstholm (33 km).
Come along on a sail on the inlet from Vilsund and observe the seals as the gambol in the water, or how about a pirate sail from the harbour of Thisted?
Golf players can try out more courses in this area, and the nearest one is located close to Vang, where the club Nordvestjysk Golfklub offers a scenic and challenging 18-hole golf course in the dune plantation Nystrup Klitplantage.
17 preserved grave mounds from the beginning of the bronze age are situated on the highest spots in the nature area Skyum Bjerge. 6 of those are places on a line across a hill crest (7 km towards south).
Thisted offers shops, restaurants, galleries, potteries, the church Thisted Kirke, the brewery Thisted Bryghus and Thisted Museum, which has been established in an old, private villa. Here you can see a room, which has been made in the honour of the writer J. P. Jacobsen, as well as exhibitions about the peasant culture in Thy and the story of Thisted among other things (14 km).
In Nordsoakvariet in Vorupor you can see fish and marine animals, which accidently ended up in the nets of the local fishermen. Vorupor Museum has been established in the former shipyard and shows exhibitions about Vorupor and its inhabitants (20 km). Jesperhus on the island Mors offers more beautiful flower parks as well as a cosy zoo, a play centre, a pirate land and a waterworld. Here the whole family can have a pleasant day, full of activities (21 km). At the open-air museum Hjerl Hede you can experience an idyllic old village with houses, farms, a village pond, a watermill, a church and much more. Many times every year you can take part in activities her and see, when the village comes to life (59 km).
Stenaldercentret in Ertebolle shows exhibitions about the nature and culture of Ertebolle 6-7000 years ago. See how people lived in this environment and experience a reconstructed settlement from the Stone Age (63 km).
