Skyum is a small and cosy Liim Fiord village in the Thy area, which is surrounded by lovely and unspoiled nature.

Skyum is situated right by the most western shores of the Liim Fiord, 19 km south of Thisted and about 20 km from the North Sea. The area is quiet and scenic and it mainly appeals to anglers and other nature lovers.
It is possible to buy groceries in Skyum. In Vildsund, 7 km towards north, as well as in Thisted you will find good shopping possibilities and more restaurants.
Skyum has a good Liim Fiord beach. The beach is not wide, but the water is clean, calm and suitable for children.
If you wish to swim in the North Sea, the beach by Lyngby is recommendable. The distance to the fine bathing beach with Blue Flag is 20 km. The beach consists of coarse sand and a few stones, the bottom is sandy and the water is almost always clear. However, like by all beaches by the North Sea, the water gets deep quickly and waves and strong currents can occur. The conditions for windsurfing are very good here.
Skyum is surrounded by a scenic and varying nature with fields, forest and the Liim Fiord.
¿Skyum Bjerge¿ is an elevated and undulating hilly country with moor, forest, marsh and beach. From the highest points of the area you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Liim Fiord and Mors.
The bird sanctuary 'Vejlerne' is situated within an hours drive from Skyum.
The inlet provides you with good conditions for surfing as well as coastal fishing and yachting. It is also possible to fish in one of the Put & Take fishponds of the area or go deep-sea fishing on the reef 'Det Gule Rev' onboard a fishing vessel, which sails out from f.x. Hanstholm.
The nature area 'Skyum Bakker' invites walks. The area, surrounding Skyum, can also be experienced from a bicycle.
You will find no less than 17 preserved grave mounds from the beginning of the bronze age on the highest points of the nature area 'Skyum Bjerge'. 6 of these are very scenically situated in a row across a hillcrest.
The flower park 'Jesperhus Blomsterpark' on the Liim Fiord island Mors is the largest flower park in Scandinavia with colourful flower arrangements, jungle zoo with i.a. beautiful tropical birds, pirate and play land as well as water world with various activities (28 km).
Visit the lighthouse 'Hanstholm Fyr' and the bunker museum of Hanstholm, which informs you of World War 2 (39 km).
'Vejlerne', which is situated north-east of Skyum, is Northern Europe¿s largest bird sanctuary. Here you can follow the bird life from the paths or the bird gazeboes of the wetlands (about 45 km).
The open-air museum 'Hjerl Hede Frilandsmuseum' near Vinderup is an interesting and lifelike museum for the whole family. See among other things how the daily life in the country 150 years ago is vitalized (66 km).
