In the Skive region you may enjoy a cruise onboard wooden ships, explore limestone mines, visit, manors, castles and museums as well as experience the special nature with moler slopes, 190 km coastline, fjord, moors and woods.
Here you will find a charming marina, a cosy pedestrian street, many cultural sights and a large number of good restaurants. Skive City offers a varied selection of inspiring specialist shops and a cosy and relaxed atmosphere. In the market place Posthustorvet you can visit the weekly market, where many local producers sell their products.
In Skive, all the roundabouts have been decorated with pieces of art known as the '11 Stars', designed by the Danish designer Jacob Jensen.
The beach at the marina Skive Lystbådehavn, is a lovely beach with fine sand and suitable for wind surfing. In addition hereto, it has toilet and parking facilities.
There are other fine beaches near Skive, e.g. the beach of Lyby, which is 15 metres wide and 1 km long (12 km northwest of Skive). It primarily consists of sand and small stones. The water is clean and the beach is, jut like the other beaches along the Liim Fiord, very suitable for children as the water is shallow by the edge. During the summer, a bathing jetty is available by the beach.
The beach at Lundø Nordspids is also recommendable. It is 20 metres wide and all together 10 km long. This beach has likewise sand and stones, clear water, and is very suitable for children (15 km north east of Skive).
The nature of the Skive region is very special with moler slopes and moors and offers lovely natural experiences along some of the many good walking and bicycle tracks. Likewise, the region is an Eldora do for anglers: You have the Liim Fiord, several lakes and the well-known Karup River, which is famous for its outstanding stock of sea trouts. But the region offers more than that, e.g. canoe - kayak - water skiing - diving - fitness - tennis - surfing.
The peninsular Lundø (15 km) terminates in a kilometre long stone reef 'Jelse Odde', and it is possible to walk on the reef at low water and in this way experience the shores of the Liim Fiord from the seaward side. Resting birds inhabit the uttermost part of the spit, and often it is possible to spot seals here.
By the scenic areas 'Urhøjene' and 'Junget Krat', 20 km north of Skive, you can experience a magnificent view of Salling, the islands of Fur and Livø, Himmerland and Mors from the highest point in the area (56 m).
The clean inlet offers good conditions for surfers. Anglers can fish directly from the shore or on the inlet from a boat.
Golf players have good opportunities in the area. Skive Golfklub has a beautiful, well-kept 18-hole golf course, which offers challenges even for the picked golf player. Here you will find a practical clubhouse, a training course, a pro shop and a café.
You can also try out 'Harre Vig Golfklub' in Roslev (21 km) or 'Hjarbæk Fjord Golf Klub' in Skals (27 km).
If you like walking and biking, the varied landscape offers lovely natural experiences. The Skive region has 46 marked walking routes as well as many marked bicycle routes along the coast.
Skive is rich in museums and galleries. At Skive Museum you can see Denmark's largest amber find, which consists of more than 13,000 pearls. You can walk among the culture-historical collections, which illustrate the small old town as well as the surrounding towns. The old manor house 'Stårupgaard' and the convent 'Ørslev Kloster' (approx. 7 km from Skive) are also worth a visit.
'Sundsøre Pakhus''by the spit Sundsøre Odde, is a restored warehouse with varying exhibitions (19 km).
The castle 'Spøttrup Borg' in Spøttrup is Denmark’s best-preserved mediaeval castle (21 km). Here you can experience how people lived during the Middle Ages. Activities, exhibitions and market days are also arranged here.
'Fur Museum' on the island of Fur is famous for its unique collection of 54 mio. year old fossils, 'Geoeksperimentariet' , the geo exploratium for outdoor activities in the nature workshop, and the Geo Park with dinosaurs - a big T-rex and a Triceratops (29 km).
Visit the home of the poet Jeppe Aakjær 'Jenle' by Breum. Here you can see the poet's workroom and varying exhibitions (13 km).
The openair museum 'Hjerl Hede Frilandsmuseum' near Vinderup is an interesting and lifelike museum for the whole family (approx. 23 km).
The lime pit 'Mønsted Kalkgruber' by Stoholm is an endless labyrinth of 2 km illuminated mine corridors with both large caves and narrow galleries (approx. 26km).
The flower park 'Jesperhus Blomsterpark' on the Liim Fiord island Mors is the largest flower park in Scandinavia with a jungle zoo (28 km).
On the island of Fur you will find diversified and distinctive landscapes (23 km).
Visit also Viborg with i.a. the largest granite church in Scandinavia, Viborg Cathedral, a rich art and cultural life, many interesting museums, a cosy pedestrian street and many restaurants (33 km).
The scenically situated Stone Age centre 'Stenaldercentret' in Ertebølle describes the nature in and around Ertebølle 6-7,000 years ago (41 km).
