The small, peaceful and cosy holiday area by Lyngs is surrounded by water - towards south the broad 'Nissum Bredning' and towards north the inlet 'Skibsted Fjord'. With the water as background you will find scenic views almost all over the area.
In Thyholm the air is fresh and the nature clean. Here you can fish, hike, drive on bicycle or merely relax in the quiet surroundings. In the churches and museums of Thyholm you can learn more about the former fishing and peasant society of the area.
It is possible to buy groceries in Lyngs. From here it is 5 km to Hvidbjerg, which offers more restaurants and good shopping possibilities, and 24 km to Struer, where you will find shops, restaurants, sights and the largest marina of the Liim Fiord.
The beach 'Lyngs Drag' is a lovely Liim Fiord beach with coarse sand, a few rocks and clean water. The water is shallow, which makes the beach very suitable for children.
If you wish to experience the wide and white sandy beach of the North Sea, the beach of Agger Tange is situated only 24 km from Lyngs. The beach is about 100 metres wide and consists of both sand and stones. The water is clear and the bottom is sandy with rocks. The beach has the Blue Flag. You will find good bathing and sunbathing opportunities as the many groynes shelter the beach. However, the water is deep with occasional waves and currents.
Fields and green recreational areas surround Lyngs. With the water as background, the views are great no matter where you are. The area has a rich bird life.
2 km north of Lyngs you will find the spit 'Munkholm Odde' - a large, preserved area with salt meadow and a very rich and versatile bird life.
The plantation 'Hvidbjerg Plantage' is a 40 hectares large low-lying plantation area with hardwood trees and pines (5 km).
The moor 'Ydby Hede' is a scenic nature landscape with innumerable walking and bicycle paths, about 7 km west of Lyngs.
By Odby, 9 km south of Lyngs, you will find an impressive and distinctive coastal cliff, which stretches far towards north.
13 km north of Lyngs you will find the beautiful area 'Dover Odde' and 'Dover Plantage'. The nearby 'Lodbjerg Klitplantage' is a 1,050 hectares dune area with forest, lakes as well as moor and dune areas.
The lovely and varying nature invites walks and bicycle trips in the open air.
Anglers have good opportunities for a haul along the shores of Thyholm as well as in the streams and lakes of the area. It is also possible to rent a boat at more places on Thyholm and fish on the inlet.
Golf players can try out the course of 'Struer Golfklub'. The club offers a scenic and slightly undulating 18-hole seaside course as well as a 9-hole Pay & Play course (24 km).
A Dutch windmill from 1867 is the landmark of Lyngs. The mill has a distinctive bell frame and is open to the public on weekdays.
The ancient cemetery on Ydby Hede is Denmark's largest collection of barrows (7 km).
By 'Den hellige Kilde' by the town Helligkilde you can experience a spring, which is gushing from the earth and sending out large quantities of cold clear water all year round (9 km).
The scenically situated manor house 'Hindsels' can be observed from the outside (9 km).
A dam leads from Thyholm to the island Jegindø, where the beach 'Jegind Tap', a long narrow spit with good bathing possibilities and a distinctive nature, is worth a visit (9 km - to the dam).
'Thyholm Egnsmuseum - Apotekergården' in Søndbjerg is a small museum, which has been established in an old pharmacist's house. Here you can learn more about the culture and history of the district (13 km).
Experience the burial chamber in the passage grave Lundehøj by Heltborg, which originates from the neolithic period (14 km).
In the cutter and bunker museum 'Kutter- og Bunkermuseet' by Oddesund large bunker installations and an exhibition bear witness of the occupation during World War 2 (14 km).
The culture-historical 'Struer Museum' has been established in the town's oldest estate 'Torngård', and here you can experience an old farmhouse room, a bottle ship exhibition and an ancient collection (24 km).
In Thyborøn you will find the aquarium 'Jyllands Akvariet', where you can stroke a shark on it's head, 'Kystcentret', which is an interesting experience centre, and 'Sneglehuset' - a house, which is decorated with millions of sea shells both inside and outside (33 km).
The flower park 'Jesperhus Blomsterpark' is a large flower park with jungle zoo, beautiful tropical birds, play land and a water world (39 km).
