'The town of the clams' Løgstør is a charming market town with a fishing harbour and a marina, a rich artistic environment, small cosy houses, an interesting maritime museum and good shopping opportunities. The town is surrounded by scenic and unspoiled nature with an inlet, bird sanctuaries, heather spaces, hills and forest areas. Many artists and craftsmen are attracted to this area because of the lovely fresh nature and the special light, and you are able to visit more of them in their workshops and studios or on the harbour, where they arrange an artist marked.
Løgstør and the surrounding area offer good bathing beaches, preserved nature areas, good leisure opportunities, cultural sights and amusements for the whole family.
Close to the canal in Løgstør you will find a lovely bathing beach with gentle and child-friendly waves.
A number of good Liim Fiord bathing beaches are available in the area, which are also suitable for water sport activities like fx sailing and surfing. Among others the beaches of Lendrup and Trend are recommendable.
If you wish to swim in the roaring waves of the North Sea, you can visit one of the lovely bathing beaches in the bay Jammerbugten, which is located 22 km from Løgstør.
The canal of Frederik VII, which flows through Løgstør, is 4 km long and digged out by hand. Today the canal is preserved, and along it you can experience a rich vegetation and animal life.
The Liim Fiord as well as hilly and scenic areas surround Løgstør. In the eastern outskirts of Løgstør you will find the moor Oudrup Hede - a large nature area with heather. Close to Løgstør you can visit the preserved forest Christiansminde Skov.
The unique game preserve Løgstør Bredning Vildtreservat contains tidal areas, salt meadows, forest of reeds and shallow lakes. The preserve is an international bird sanctuary with golden eye, widgeon and other water birds.
In the beautiful forest Trend Skov, which is situated behind the village Trend, you will find the royal hunting lodge as well as a number of good walking paths (16 km towards south).
On the evocative harbour in Løgstør you can experience the artist marked, where the local artists and craftsmen meet and exhibit.
Do you need to be pampered and relax, you can enjoy a wellness treatment at the Løgstør Park Hotel.
Løgstør Golf Klub offers an 18-hole course as well as a Par 3 course with 9 holes. In Gatten you can experience Northern Europe's largest golf ground 'Himmerland Golf & Country Club' with challenges for golf players on all levels (15 km).
The holiday village Rønbjerg Feriecenter offers a subtropical aquapark, a health centre and plenty of other activities for both children and adults for payment (12 km).
Anglers have good opportunities for a catch in the Liim Fiord as well as in the streams and Put & Take fishponds of the area.
The Liim Fiord area is ideal for active holiday. Among other things you can swim, sail, fish as well as kitesurf and windsurf on the inlet or hike, ride or drive on bicycle along the good paths in the varying and scenic landscape.
Limfjordsmuseet is a maritime museum by the harbour, which contains interesting collections with the themes shipping, fishing, ferry service and boatbuilding. Outside the museum you can experience the old fishing vessels.
The fortification Aggersborg by Aggersund from 980 is one of Denmark's greatest ring castles with traces after 48 long houses. The viking castle is strategically situated by the narrowest section of the Liim Fiord. See an exhibition about the construction of the castle here (5 km).
'Fjerritslev Bryggeri- og Egnsmuseum' is Northern Europe's best-preserved rural brewery. The brewery appears like in former times with 100 years old coppers, fermenting tubs and beer barrels. A museum, containing fx a malt house and a bottling hall, has been established in the brewer's house (15 km). In Fjerritslev you can also visit Han Herred Naturcenter and learn more about the area's nature and animal life.
The impressive, three-winged mediaeval monastery Vitskøl from 1157 is situated by the bay Bjørnsholm Bugt (16 km).
From Rønbjerg you can take the ferry to the scenic and traffic-free island Livø. The island has a rich ainmal life and you can fx experience seals here. Furthermore, the island offer good bathing beaches and marked walking paths.
The beautifully located stone-age centre in Ertebølle portrays the nature in and around Ertebølle and the life of man in this environment 6-7,000 years ago. A kitchen midden is exhibited and a reconstructed village illustrates the cottages of that time (21 km).
From the 47 m high lime cliff Bulbjerg you can enjoy the view of the bay Jammerbugten. A small exhibition has been established in the bunker on the top of the cliff, which represents Denmark's only bird cliff (34 km).
In the amusement park Fårup Sommerland & Aquapark you can try out more than 50 activities, fx Denmark's largest aquapark and Denmark's largest switchback Falken (62 km).
