Jørsby is located in a bay, facing south, on the northern part of Mors, 16 km from Nykøbing Mors. Here you are surrounded by undisturbed nature, coast, green spaces, fields and fresh air. Jørsby is an ideal holiday destination if you search peace and tranquillity, and still wish to be close to towns and attractions for the whole family.
It is possible to buy groceries in the area, and in Nykøbing Mors you will find shops, restaurants, sights and cosy harbour atmosphere.
Mors offers a beautiful and very varying nature with moler pits among other things. The island is characterized by castles, old manor houses and small village communities with a cosy ambience, which invites holiday at your own leisure.
You can swim by the lovely child-friendly bathing beach near Ejerslev Lyng, 4 km towards north. Equally, the beach Nykøbing Østerstrand on the tongue Ørodde is a good and child-friendly bathing beach with bathing jetty and Blue Flag. The 20 metres wide and several kilometres long beach has shallow clear water and a lovely sandy bottom. Beach volley is a very popular activity here (17 km).
If you wish to swim by the broad white and sandy beaches with waves and high dunes, the shore is just 40 km away from Jørsby. Visit for example Vorupør Strand, which also has a long pier.
Jørsby is surrounded by fields, green spaces and sea. Just north of Jørsby you can experience the spectacular moler hillsides, which rise steep from the shore, by the moler pit Ejerslev Molergrav. The most interesting spot is Hanklit (61 m) with a geological history, which leads back more than 55 million years. Fossilized animals and plants has been found here and can be seen at the museum Molermuseet. The scenic surroundings invite walks by the beach or along the marked paths through the moler pit. Mors and the adjoining island Fur are the only places in the world with moler occurrences in the underground.
From the highest spot of the island, Salgerhøj (89 m), you can enjoy a unique view of Mors, the Liim Fiord and the lislands Livø and Fur.
The forest Legind Bjerge Plantage, just south of Nykøbing Falster, is a very varying forest with valleys, lakes and high old trees from the northwestern USA (20 km).
It is possible to swim, hike, ride on bicycle, fish and play golf on Mors. Among other things you can follow the 120 km long marked sunshine route, which leads you round the island. You can fish along the beautiful Liim Fiord shores or in a Put & Take fishpond on Mors or Salling. In Morsø Fiskepark near Nykøbing you can for example catch trout (19 km).
Golfers can test the course of Morsø Golfklub near Nykøbing. The 18-hole Pay & Play course and the 9-hole Par-3 course have been established on a meadow with streams – right by the Liim Fiord. Therefore, the course has been nicknamed ‘Pearl of the Liim Fiord’ (16 km).
At the museum Molermuseet in Hesselbjerg you can see the amazing finds of 55 million years old fossils, which have been dug out from the moler (7 km).
Today, the old farm Skarregaard functions as an agricultural museum, where you are taken generations back in time. A nature path leads you around in the surrounding landscape with forest, fields, salt meadows, lakes, grave mounds and a castle hill (7 km).
In the provincial town Nykøbing you can experience small cosy alleys with old workers' houses in the harbour quarter, an evocative pedestrian street and the harbour with a lovely local atmosphere and more good restaurants (16 km).
The convent Dueholm Kloster in Nykøbing is the oldest preserved building of the town and was founded by Johanitter order in 1371. Today, the 5 historic buildings are used as exhibition rooms (19 km).
Everywhere on Mors you can visit galleries with interesting art and handicraft.
Go on a day trip to Jesperhus, which offers amusement and cosiness for the whole family. See the colourful flower gardens, meet the tropical animals in jungle zoo and play in the play centre, the pirate land and the waterworld (20 km). The fairy-tale castle Hojriis Slot, south of Nykobing, is one of Denmark''s oldest manor houses. Here you can see an exhibition about Sleeping Beauty among others (24 km). The manor house Hessel on the preserved Louns peninsular is the only manor house with thatched roof in Denmark. Here you can experience how masters and servants lived in the old days (47 km). You can also experience the past in the idyllic village of the open-air museum Hjerl Hede. Follow the activities in the houses and gardens, on the farms and fields as well as in the workshops. A cosy and educational experience for everyone in the family (58 km).
