Begtrup Vig is situated in quiet and scenic surroundings, right by the lovely Kattegat. In Begstrup Vig you will broadly find shelter from all wind directions, and therefore the cove is one of the most popular anchoring places for yachtsmen in the bay 'Århusbugten'.
It is possible to buy groceries in Begtrup. However, it is not far from Begstrup Vig to the cosy old market town Ebeltoft, where it is possible to shop and experience more interesting sights.
From Begstrup Vig and towards west you will find the long and sheltered beach of Begtrup. Because of the shallow water, the lovely beach is very suitable for children. Windsurfers will also find good conditions here. Don't miss the magnificent sunset over the Kattegat from the beach. If you wish to swim by a smaller and calmer beach, the beaches of Fuglsø and Thorup are recommendable.
Through the spit by Dragsmur, right by Begtrup, you will reach the peninsular Helgenæs, which is characterized by a lovely nature with dune slopes, small hills, marshes and a rich animal life.
The area also has a rich bird life, and more wading birds have their breeding place here.
About 7 km north of Begtrup the area 'Mols Bjerge' (the mountains of Mols) is situated. The area is a magnificent and preserved nature landscape with a varying nature, a number of walking paths, grave mounds and a rich animal life. Thick forest is replaced by open moorland hills and you can enjoy a great view of Mols, the Kattegat as well as the coves 'Kalø Vig' and 'Ebeltoft Vig' from the viewpoints 'Agri Bavnehøj' (137 m) and 'Trehøje' (127 m).
The area, surrounding Begtrup Vig, and the area, leading towards the peninsular Helgenæs, offer good possibilities for coastal fishing. It is also possible to rent a smaller boat and fish on the bay 'Århus Bugt'.
On Djursland you will find no less than 4 good golf courses. The nearest are the courses of 'Ebeltoft Golfklub' and 'Kalø Golf Center', from which you can enjoy an impressive vies of the bay of Århus and the castle ruin 'Kalø Slotsruin'.
The centre 'Fuglsøcentret', a few km from Begtrup Vig, offers leisure activities like i.a. beach volley, basketball and tennis.
The scenic nature area 'Mols Bjerge' is rich grave mounds and other relics.
Experience the activity and the atmosphere of the cosy tourist town Ebeltoft (17 km). The town carries you back in time with its narrow, cobbled streets and lopsided houses. Here you will find good shops and restaurants as well as more interesting sights.
A beguiling museum of local history has been established in the old town hall.
In 'Ree Park - Ebeltoft Safari' the animal species are divided on four continents, as they would be in nature.
The frigate Jylland is the largest wooden warship in the world. The hull is 71 metres long, the spread of canvas is 1,881 square metres and it weights 2,450.
On the southern part of Djursland you will find more interesting castles and manor houses. The castle ruin 'Kalø Slotsruin' from the year 1313 is a famous tourist attraction as well. The ruin is scenically situated right by the cove of Kalø Vig (about 20 km).
In the animal park 'Skandinavisk Dyrepark' you will have genuine nature experiences. From the 250 metres long footbridge you can observe the bears in the amazing bear park (27 km).
The amusement park 'Djurs Sommerland' is a fun and interesting experience for the whole family. When the entry has been paid, you can make use of all activities for free (34 km).
Moat, forest, fields and meadow scenically surround the castle 'Gl. Estrup'. The castle also contains a manor house museum and an agricultural museum (36 km).
An impressive sight awaits you in the aquarium 'Kattegatcentret'. Observe the fearful sharks at close range behind a thick pane of glass (41 km).
Visit Århus, the 'capital' of Jutland, with the amusement park 'Tivoli Friheden', the open-air museum 'Den Gamle By', the music house 'Musikhuset', the small and intimate alleys of the Latin Quarter, the cosy pedestrian streets, the lively atmosphere by stream 'Vadestedet' as well as the forest 'Marselisborgskoven' (47 km).
