Egtved Pigens gravplads

Egtved Pigens GravOne of Europe's finest bronze age finds was discovered in Egtved, outside Vejle, where a young bronze age girl was buried in a burial mound. Vejle Museerne tells the story of the Egtved girl. Free access.
The Egtved girl was buried in a mound, close to Egtved. A dendrochronologically analysis has later shown that the oak trunk of the coffin, in which the Egtved girl was buried, was cut down in the year 1370 before Christ, consequently in the bronze age.
The large mound, in which the coffin was placed, was app. 4 metres high and 22 metres in diameter. Today, it has been reconstructed in its original place. A small exhibition next to the mound tells about the find, and here you can see a copy of the attire and the oak coffin.
Free access to the exhibition about the Egtved girl.
The complete Egtved find is exhibited on Nationalmuseet in Copenhagen.
