Allergy |
Top |
We cannot guarantee that no dogs, cats or the like have ever stayed in holiday homes in which pets are not allowed, as the owner of the house can have a dog or cat of their own.
During the early and late off-peak seasons especially, the holiday home may have been vacant for a long period, and this can result in the indoor climate being more humid and musty than you are used to at home. This will, however, disappear after about a day of heating/airing out.
|
Arrival |
Top |
The key is available for collection at the local Sol og Strand office or key deposit place from 4 p.m. onwards on the day of arrival. Holiday home owners are allowed access to the holiday home between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. in order to carry out minor repairs. Moreover, the holiday home must also be prepared for the next tenants during this time. If you expect to arrive very late or later than the date stated on your tenancy agreement, please inform us no later than the day before your arrival, so that we may arrange for an alternative key transfer time as well as an adjustment of the preheating (from November to May).

Bathing rules for swimming pool and jacuzzi |
Top |
The bathing rules are stated on posters in holiday homes with swimming pool and/or whirlpool, and for your own health and safety these rules must be followed. Otherwise, Sol og Strand cannot be held responsible for the quality of the bathing water.
If you rent a holiday home with swimming pool and/or whirlpool, you will receive information on the bathing rules when you pick up the key.
|
Bathroom/ shower |
Top |
Bathrooms in Danish holiday homes can be rather small. Usually, the bathrooms contain a hand shower, often with a holder on the wall. A shower curtain is not always available, and the drain often consists of a grating in the floor.
There is often no divider between the shower cabinet and the remainder of the bathroom. The showers and showers cabinets are usually rather small.
Cupboards, shelves and towel pegs may not be available to the same extent as you would find in your own home.
|
Beach |
Top |
The designation 'beach' does not necessarily mean that the beach is suitable for bathing. The distance to the beach is measured in a direct line to the nearest shoreline.
The appearance of the beaches varies according to the weather and time of year. In some places the coasts are steep (most are provided with access steps during the summer). Please respect the natural environment and use the marked paths and roads wherever possible.
If you wish to receive detailed information about the beach, this can be obtained from your local Sol og Strand office, from VisitDenmark (www.visitdenmark.dk) or from the local tourist office.
The designation 'child-friendly' does not necessarily mean that the beach is a sand beach. The designation 'sand beach' may be used to describe both sand and pebble beaches. Motor vehicles are allowed on some beaches.
|
Bed-loft |
Top |
Normally, a bed-loft has a height of 70-100 cm. Usually, there is no safety railing, and access to the bed-loft is from a steep staircase/ ladder. A bed-loft is not suitable for small children, the elderly or for persons with impaired or limited mobility. The sleeping facilities in the bed-loft often consist of foam rubber mattresses.
|
Bedrooms |
Top |
Bedrooms in the holiday home can be small. The bed can, for example, be placed up against the wall, leaving access only from one side. Bedside tables and lamps etc. are not compulsory in all bedrooms. We cannot guarantee that there is room for a cot in the bedroom.
|
Beds |
Top |
The beds in the holiday homes vary in size. The length can be from 1.8 m to 2 m. The double beds often consisting of just one mattress, vary in width from 1.2 m to 1.8 m, while single beds vary in width from 70 cm to 90 cm. The beds may be equipped with foam rubber mattresses.
The measurements above only apply to beds and do not include sofa beds, whose measurements may vary from the standard stated. Bunk beds are not always equipped with climbing supports or ladders.
|
Bicycles |
Top |
Bicycles are supplied in some of our holiday homes. They may be used free of charge, but Sol og Strand can accept no responsibility for their standard or any possible defects. |
Boat |
Top |
If a boat is available at the holiday home, it is the responsibility of the tenant to supply (buy/ rent or borrow) life jackets in accordance with Danish regulations. Failure to use life jacket may result in a fine. In a few cases the holiday home does have life jackets. In this case, it is the user´s responsibility to ensure that the life jacket is correctly fitted and that the body weight does not exceed the buoyancy limitations of the life jacket.
It is prohibited to sail further than 1,500 metres offshore. Remember to carry the following with you: Bailer, torch, mobile phone, card, compass, appropriate clothing and extra fuel for motor-driven boats.
|
Bring along |
Top |
If you don't order linen packs etc., remember to bring: Bed linen (large sheets instead of stretch sheets as the length, width and thickness of the mattresses may vary), towels, dish towels, dishcloths, cleaning materials, toilet paper, an iron and bed linen for the cot (pillow, duvet and draw sheet). |
Changes |
Top |
Sol og Strand cannot be held responsible for any changes in prices, opening hours, potential closure of shops, restaurants, surf schools, tennis courts and the like. |
Complaints |
Top |
Any complaint must be reported to the local Sol og Strand office immediately (tel. no. and address are stated on the tenancy agreement and in the INFORMATION FOLDER in the holiday home).
If the local office is closed, please contact Sol og Strand's main office, Ilsigvej 21, Hune, DK-9492 Blokhus, tel. +45 99 44 44 10, fax +45 99 44 44 45. The main office is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day including weekends. An emergency telephone line is open on 24 and 25 December as well as 31 December and 01 January. We reserve the right to make changes without notice. You can also check our opening hours here on www.sologstrand.com.
For complaints regarding cleaning, please notify Sol og Strand immediately on the day of arrival. Any other complaint must be stated at the same time to enable us to allow us to find a solution as quickly as possible.
According to Danish legislation, tenants must allow Sol og Strand a reasonable period in which to resolve any complaints received from the tenant. Any compensation due will be calculated from the time when the complaint is received by Sol og Strand.
IMPORTANT! If the tenants leave the holiday home without informing Sol og Strand verbally, and without allowing Sol og Strand a reasonable period in which to remedy potential defects, Sol og Strand cannot be held liable for refunds/compensation as the tenants have not given Sol og Strand sufficient time to remedy the defects/ damage.

Consumption |
Top |
The consumption taxes (see tenancy agreement) are not included in the rental price. The electricity meter is often located outside the holiday home. When you arrive at your holiday home, the welcome card will have already been completed with the meter reading at the start of your holiday. Please transfer the numbers from this card to the consumption form that you received at the key deposit place. The calculation of payment for electricity is carried out via the completion of the consumption form.
Upon departure, we kindly ask that you note the final meter reading on the form and return it to our local office. The amount will be deducted from your deposit, which will be refunded via your bank at the latest 3 weeks after the end of the tenancy, providing that all bank details given are correct. In the case of incomplete or incorrect bank account details, you will receive one statement requesting the correct bank information. Kindly note that the refunding of deposits is limited to a period of 5 years. It is the responsibility of the tenant to provide Sol og Strand with the correct bank account details.
If the deposit does not cover the total consumption charge, you will be invoiced separately for the extra amount.
The price per kWh and per metered unit for the use of telephone, for example, is DKK 2.15 (approx. EUR 0.29) and 2.25 (approx. EUR 0.30) respectively.
The price for gas, water and oil (if used) may vary. You will find further information about this in your tenancy agreement as well as in the holiday home. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
Please note that the figure shown on the welcome card may differ from that noted on the consumption form.
This can be attributed to the preheating of the house (from November to May). As a tenant, you will, however, pay only for the heating. The service work is included in the rental price.
This also applies all year round to houses with swimming pool and pre-filled whirlpools (jacuzzis). Houses with swimming pools will typically use more electricity because of the necessary health and safety checks of the water quality. All houses with pre-filled whirlpools in which the water is renewed each Saturday, will use electricity for the heating of the water. The servicing of both of the above types is free of charge. As a tenant, you pay only for the heating itself.
NB! Most electricity-meters in Denmark have no commas. All numbers shown represent whole kilowatt-hours - including the last number, which may be shown in red.
In holiday homes with swimming pools and/or whirlpools (Jacuzzis), the consumption of electricity is considerably higher than in holiday homes without these facilities.
The specific electricity and water consumption does, of course, depend upon the number of persons, the size of the house, the type of facility and the time of year.
|
Cot |
Top |
A symbol for a child in the house presentation indicates that the holiday home contains a cot. Usually, the cot is a so-called weekend bed; about 60 cm wide and 110 cm long. It is your responsibility to bring your own pillow, duvet and bed linen. These beds are suitable for children under 3 years of age.
We cannot guarantee that there is room for the cot in the bedrooms of the holiday home.
|
Cupboard space |
Top |
In some cases the cupboards illustrated may be small and narrow with perhaps either just a curtain across or left completely open. Cupboards or drawers may contain private items belonging to the owner. Please observe that you may not find cupboards in all rooms. Due to these space limitations, there may not be room for all of your garments. Hangers are not always provided.
|
Damages |
Top |
Any damage which occurs in the holiday home must be reported to the local Sol og Strand office or to the main office immediately.
Please read paragraphs 2 and 7 under rental conditions and in the section 'Complaints'.
|
Denouncement |
Top |
The local Sol og Strand office reserves the right to terminate the tenancy without refund of any guest/s who violate Danish law or behave in an unacceptable manner. |
Departure |
Top |
You must depart your holiday home no later than 10 a.m. and drop the key off at the same place as where you collected it.
Upon departure, the holiday home must be left tidy and clean. Windows and doors must be closed/locked. All furniture and other equipment must be placed in its original location and in the same condition in which you found it.
Read the electricity meter, the telephone counter, the oleometer and the water meter, and note the figures on the consumption form.
If you wish to leave the holiday home before the pre-arranged time of departure, you are obliged, for insurance purposes, to inform the local Sol og Strand office.
During the winter period, from November to May, it is important never to switch off the electricity - in order to avoid frost damage. Upon departure, please turn the radiators down to 5 degrees C and adjust the floor heating to the minimum temperature.
|
Distances |
Top |
The distances stated in the presentation are intended as guidelines only and are estimations based on the distance in a direct line. For this reason, the walk or the drive can be considerable longer than indicated.
A short distance to the beach may not take into account the incidence of steep shores or private property which may hinder direct access. In some cases, a road may separate the holiday home from the beach. Please respect our areas of natural beauty by using the marked paths and roads wherever possible. Contact the local Sol og Strand office for more information. Please note that distances to the nearest grocer's shop can vary, as some shops are only open during the high season.
|
Drain |
Top |
Do not dispose of sanitary towels, tampons, cotton wool, napkins or similar items in the toilet as this can easily cause a blockage. Temporary problems with the drain from the toilet, shower etc. may also occur as a consequence of heavy rain. However, this usually adjusts itself after 1-2 days.
Never pour food leftovers, fat or cooking oil down the drains or into the toilet!
|
Electricity |
Top |
All of our holiday homes are connected up with electricity (220 V). Spare fuses are normally available in the house. If this is not the case, please purchase yourselves.
The local Sol og Strand office will subsequently refund the amount upon presentation of a receipt.
|
Final cleaning |
Top |
Enjoy your holiday from start to finish. The house cleaning can take 3-4 hours and it´s hard work! If you haven't booked a final cleaning, you can still order it at the local office - but no later than 3 days before departure from the holiday home.
If you wish to clean the house yourselves, please remember that Sol og Strand does inspect the house immediately after your departure. Tenants will be billed at their home address for any extra cleaning that Sol og Strand deem necessary.
As tenants, you are responsible for the following points, which are not included in our final cleaning:
. dish washing
. general tidying-up - inside and outside
. cleaning of grill and garden furniture
Holiday homes with swimming pool and/or whirlpool require an extensive final cleaning, and therefore we do recommend that our tenants leave the final cleaning of these houses to us for a small charge. If you do choose to carry out the final cleaning yourselves, remember to bring cleaning materials.

Firewood/ woodburning stove |
Top |
If it is not specifically stated in the house description, firewood for the fireplace and the woodburning stove is not included in the rental price. Firewood can be purchased by the roadside or at the grocer's shop. Firewood at the holiday home is the private property of the owner and may not be used.
In some cases it can be purchased and, if that is the case, it will appear in a notice in the holiday home. You pay the owner directly and leave the money for the firewood in the house.
During extreme winds or stormy weather it may not be possible to use the woodburning stove, as the smoke will backfire in the chimney.
Use only newspapers for the lighting and dry and chemically untreated wood for burning. Wood that has been collected from the beach contains salt, which can damage the stove. Therefore, please do not EVER use wood found on the beach.
The woodburning stove may contain ashes on arrival. This is because the former tenant of the house used the woodburning stove and left the hot ashes in the stove. Always leave the hot ashes in a closed stove rather than in an uncontrolled spot near the house or on the site.
Overheating of the stove is a fire risk and can damage the stove.
|
Floor heating |
Top |
The heating of the floor often takes between 24 and 48 hours. The thermostat (on/off button) is usually located right above the skirting board on the outside or inside of the room with floor heating.
Please note that floor heating is most frequently found in the bathroom.
If the house contains more than one bathroom, it does not necessarily follow that all bathrooms will have floor heating.
|
Forgotten possessions |
Top |
Should you, through an oversight, leave personal possessions in the holiday home, the local Sol og Strand office will send the forgotten items to your home address.
The forwarding must be prepaid. Forgotten possessions are stored locally for a month. Sol og Strand cannot be held responsible for any forgotten possessions which subsequently cannot be found.
|
Garden furniture |
Top |
Usually garden furniture consists of a table and chairs/benches. Cushions are not always available for the garden furniture (chairs, lounge beds and sun loungers). It is not allowed to use duvets, pillows, cushions or mattresses from the holiday home on the beach, terrace or lawn.
The number of garden chairs does not always correspond to the number of persons stated in the presentation. A sunshade/parasol is not available in all holiday homes.
|
Garden grill |
|
In some holiday homes you will find a garden grill (BBQ). Feel free to use the grill as much as you like, however, the local Sol og Strand office assumes no responsibility for the standard and the cleanliness of the grill.
Do not place a disposable grill directly on a wooden surface as it will leave marks. After use, it must be left to cool down completely before being disposed of.
|
Guests |
Top |
The number of tenants staying overnight must not exceed the number of persons stated in the presentation, as the drainage/sewage system of the holiday home is designed for this number of persons only. For this reason, it is not permitted to erect tents or park caravans or recreational vehicles on the site.
Should the number of persons staying overnight on site exceed the authorised number, additional guests will be asked to leave or to pay for their stay.
