Howalt & Søndergaard in ARoS
16-11-2010
ARoS presents the exhibition ?How to hunt? with the art photos by the contemporary artists Trine Søndergaard and Nicolai Howalt.
From 4 December 2010 you can see an exhibition with evocative photos, which illustrate different hunt situations throughout more than one thousand years. The photos are taken by the artist couple Trine Søndergaard (b. 1972) and Nicolai Howalt (b. 1970), who have interpreted the old hunt ritual through their camera lenses. With their scenic photos the couple show how the hunt has developed from a necessary survival ritual to a surplus sport. The photographs are manipulated - some are romanticize and others maid by mixing a number of photos, taken from the same spot over a period of time. These techniques often create a supernatural expression. The works of Howalt and Søndergaard represent an interesting mixture of documentarism and art photography. The exhibition is shown until 6 March 2011.
