Gauguin & Polynesia: A transient paradise

Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek presents a special exhibition with some of Gauguin?s finest works.
This year?s big exhibition on the museum Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek is called 'Gauguin & Polynesien: Et flygtigt paradis' (Gauguin & Polynesia: A transient paradise) and consists of a series of unique works, in which the French painter Gauguin (1848-1903) has interpreted 'the primitive'. The scenes, which reflect among others Copenhagen, Brittany and Tahiti, are created in genuine Gauguin manner with simplification and strong colours. Besides the around 50 paintings you can also experience app. 60 objects from the Polynesian culture, which inspired Gauguin very much - including cult statues, ornaments and human bones. The works of Gauguin can be experiences from 24th September until 31st December 2011.
