Skiveren is a peaceful, scenic and magnificent holiday area in the bay Tannis Bugt. Skiveren is located in a lovely conservation area, directly by the North Sea and the high dunes of the bay Tannis Bugt, which stretches all the way from Hirtshals to Skagen.
Here you will find peace, tranquillity, a lovely bathing beach and scenic surroundings, right outside your door, and in the immediate vicinity of Skiveren leisure activities, commercial towns, holiday resorts, sights and amusements are at your disposal. Just north of Skiveren the drifting dunes Sandmilen and Råbjerg Mile are situated, and app. 30 km towards north, you can visit Skagen with its quite unique atmosphere.

BeachThe fine, wide and sandy beach with the high, lime grass covered dunes is awarded with the Blue Flag and invites swimming, sun bathing, long walks as well as all kinds of beach and watersport activities. Motoring is allowed on the beach.
Because of the winds, the beach is especially suitable for surfing and funboard sailing, and Wave Performance Surf Cup competitions are often held here.
Don't miss the incredibly beautiful sunset over the North Sea.
NatureThe conservation area, surrounding Skiveren, is both a little rough and very impressive. Right behind the beach with the high dunes you will find grassy areas and partly wooded sea dunes, which gradually turn into a very scenic area with forest and moor areas with heather.
Råbjerg Mile by Kandestederne (21 km) is one of Europe's largest drifting dunes. The migrating dune is app. 40 metres high, moves up to 15 metres towards northeast every year and creates a miniature desert with a size of app. 1 square kilometre. The sand drift in this area has left behind Råbjerg Stenene - a stony plain, which has come into existence because the fine sand from Råbjerg Mile is moved and the stones, which are heavier, are left behind. From the highest point of the dune you can see all the way to the tip of Denmark - Grenen in Skagen.
ActivitiesWindsurfers have good conditions for expansion by the beach of Skiveren. Others can enjoy the sight of the colourful sails on the waving sea.
From Skiveren you can follow a walking/bicycle path, which leads into the beautiful Tversted Plantage, past the lakes Tversted Søerne and ends in the town of Tversted. Hvide Klit Golfklub near Bunken offers a scenically situated, 18-hole golf course as well as a Par-3 Pay & Play course, which are available for everyone (14 km).
Anglers have good fishing opportunities along the shore as well as in the streams of the hinterland. You can also to deep-sea fishing with a fishing vessel, which sails out from Hirtshals (25 km).
Worth a visitMany craftsmen inhabit the area around Skiveren, and you can visit their galleries and workshops, in which they create glass art, pottery, paintings, ornaments etc.
In Tuen near Tversted you can visit the eagle sanctuary Ørnereservatet. Experience the aviation of the magnificent birds of prey (f.x. peregrine falcon, gerfalcon, goshawk, golden eagle and white-tailed eagle), come close to some of the world's greatest eagle species and watch them being fed in the air (5 km).
The cosy seaside town Tversted offers genuine village atmosphere, old idyllic houses and the windmill Stokmøllen.
Farm Fun near Ålbæk is an animal park with a play land. Come close to the inhabitants, f.x. pigs, cows, sheep, kangaroos, emus, ponies, razorbacks, rabbits, goats, guinea pigs, peacocks and lamas, or try out the fun moon cars, the swings and the bouncing cushion (13 km).
Excursion spotsThe church 'Den Tilsandede Kirke' is buried in sand, and its tower rises from the sand in the scenic plantation area. The immense sand drift is the cause of the burial of the church (25 km).
The aquarium Nordsømuseet in Hirtshals contains Europe's largest saltwater aquarium: Ocenariet, which holds 4.5 million litres of water. At Nordsømuseet you can experience about 60 different fish species from the North Sea, and you can even touch some of them (26 km). In Hirtshals you can also visit Bunkermuseet Hirtshals 10. Batteri - a complete bunker installation from World War II with a museum.
Visit Skagen with the distinctive Skagen houses, the top of Denmark: Grenen, the charming harbour, the interesting sights as well as the many shops and restaurants (31 km).
In the amusement park Fårup Sommerland & Aquapark you can try out more than 50 interesting entertainments for the whole family, including Denmark's largest aquapark and Denmark's longest switchback Falken (70 km).
