Sundby is situated in quiet and scenic surroundings in the north-western part of Mors. Sundby is a cosy village with a small boat harbour, and the town is surrounded by water - the broad 'Thisted Bredning' towards north and the sound 'Vilsund' towards south - as well as a peaceful and recreational nature. A bridge leads you from Sundby over the sound Vilsund to Thy. Sundby is an ideal holiday destination if you wish to fish, hike, drive on bicycle or merely relax in the scenic nature.

BeachThe beach of Sundby is a lovely Liim Fiord beach with coarse sand, shallow, clean water and a bathing jetty.
By Nykøbing you can swim by the beach 'Nykøbing Østerstrand' on the bar 'Ørodde'. The beach is a good bathing beach with bathing jetty and Blue Flag. The 20 m wide and 20 km long beach with sand and stones has shallow, clear water and a lovely sandy bottom. Therefore the beach is very suitable for children. Beach volley is a very popular activity here.
If you wish to swim by the wide and white sandy beaches of the North Sea, the shore is situated only 23 km from Sundby.
NatureWater, fields and slightly undulating areas with forest and plantations surround Sundby.
On the northern part of Mors the viewpoint 'Salgerhøj' is situated. With the 87 metres above sea level it is the highest point on Mors (8 km).
By the moler ditch 'Ejerslev Molergrav' you can see the beautiful moler slopes, which rise steeply from the shore. The most famous place is Hanklit (61 m), which shows a geological history that goes back more than 55 million years. The fossilized animals and plants, which have been found here, can be seen on the museum 'Molermuseet'. The scenic surroundings invite walks along the beach or along one of the marked paths, which lead through the moler ditch. Mors and the neighbouring island Fur are the only places in the world with deposit of the clay 'moler' in the subsoil.
The forest 'Legind Bjerge Plantage', close to Jesperhus Blomsterpark, is a very varied forest with valleys, lakes and high old trees from north-western USA (18 km).
ActivitiesGolf players will find good opportunities in the area. 'Moors Golfklub' by Nykøbing has been established on a meadow area with a stream system.
The fishing possibilities are ideal along the beautiful Liim Fiord shores on Mors. Furthermore a couple of Put & Take fishponds are available in the area, like i.a. 'Morsø Fiskepark' by Nykøbing.
Mors also offers sporting leisure activities like golf, tennis and beach volley among other things.
Mors is ideal for an active holiday, and it is possible to rent bicycles here and follow the marked sunshine route (solskinsruten) all around the island (120 km all together).
Worth a visitIn the town Vilsund, on the other side of the inlet, you can experience the atmosphere in the cosy marina. From here you can go sailing on the inlet (3 km).
The market town Nykøbing is the 'capital' of Mors. Experience the small and cosy streets in the harbour district with the old workers' houses. The harbour of Nykøbing lies in continuation of the evocative pedestrian street, and here you will find a lovely, local harbour atmosphere and more good restaurants (17 km).
The convent 'Dueholm Kloster' in Nykøbing is the oldest building in town. Today the 5 historic building are used for exhibitions.
The flower park 'Jesperhus Blomsterpark' is the largest flower park in Scandinavia with colourful flower arrangements, jungle zoo with i.a. beautiful tropical birds, pirate and play land as well as a water world (5 km).
'Skarregaard' is an old and well-preserved family farm in scenic surroundings. Today the farm functions as a farm museum (19 km).
Excursion spotsOn 'Molermuseet' in Hesselbjerg you can see the amazing finds of 55 million years old fossils (fossilized animals and plants), which were dug out from the moler (20 km).
The castle Højriis Slot, south of Nykøbing, is like something out of a fairy-tale. It is Denmark's oldest manor house and open to the public. Here you will find an exhibition about the Sleeping Beauty among other things (20 km).
The open-air museum 'Hjerl Hede Frilandsmuseum' near Vinderup is an interesting and lifelike museum for the whole family. See among other things how the daily life in the country 150 years ago is vitalized (56 km).
The scenically situated stone age centre 'Stenaldercentret' in Ertebølle describes the nature in and around Ertebølle 6-7,000 years ago as well as the life of the people in this environment. Among other things finds from a stone age kitchen midden are displayed here. A reconstructed village shows what the huts of that time looked like (60 km).
