Vester Husby is a lovely holiday house area, situated by the forest and close the North Sea.
The holiday house area Vester Husby is a special area with a characteristic building style. Every house is build out of stones, has a thatched roof and lies on a large sit. The holiday houses are situated around the scenic dune plantation 'Husby Klitplantage' with old trees and an extensive path system. The paths lead you directly down to the dune area and the sea. The area is lies no more than 2 km inland from the North Sea, and 3 km towards north you will the inlet Nissum Fjord. The village Husby contains an old fieldstone church, a restaurant, a café and a grocer.
Beach The beach of Vester Husby has fine sand, Blue Flag and high preserved dunes. You are only allowed to stay in the dunes and on the beach on foot.
Nature
Some of the most scenic nature along the west coast of Jutland can be found here. The beach and the dunes are both conservation areas. The plantation 'Husby Klitplantage', which is situated right behind the high beach dunes, has a varied nature with i.a. oaks, beeches, pines and spruces. Exceptional natural experiences await you along the marked walking paths. A few kilometres towards east, the two only fresh water lakes of the area 'Husby Sø' and 'Nørre Sø' are situated. Here you will find a rich bird life.
Activities The area around Vester Husby is with its dune plantation, the beach, the inlet and the lakes ideal for walks and hikes. In Husby you can rent bicycles and play tennis. Anglers have good possibilities for a haul in the sea, in the inlet and in the surrounding lakes.
Worth a visit The local area contains a number of galleries and handicraft shops.
Excursion spots The red tiled roofs and old cobbled streets characterize the old, pretty provincial town, Ringkøbing. The town is situated about 25 km from Vester Husby and is definitely worth a visit. The commercial town Holstebro is situated 25 km away and has a number of interesting specialist shops and good shopping possibilities in the traffic-free town centre. Furthermore, the town offers plenty of art and culture, cosy cafes and a beautiful environment around the stream. The open-air museum 'Hjerl Hede Frilandsmuseum' near Vinderup is an interesting and lifelike museum for the whole family.
