Vejlby Klit is a popular and scenic holiday area on the west coast of Jutland.
 Vejlby Klit is located on a narrow strip of land between the North Sea and the 5 km long lake Ferring Sø. 10 km towards east you will find the commercial town Lemvig and a few km from the holiday area, both the lighthouse Bovbjerg Fyr and the holiday park Vejlby Sommerpark offer experiences for the whole family. The holiday home area is located in quiet settings and sheltered behind the high dunes. Here you can relax, enjoy yourselves, swim in the sea, walk in the area, go on an amber search fish, surf as well as fly with kite or model plane.
Beach
The beach is a very fine and sandy beach with dunes and many sheltered hollows. However, small areas with stones will occur. Be aware that the water is deep only a few metres out in the water. You are not allowed to bring your car to the beach. Flying with kites and model planes are very popular activities here on the beach. The beach is one of the best places along the North Sea to search for amber - especially after stormy weather. An ideal place for walks - no matter the time of the year.
Nature
 The nature is both wild and mid at the same time here. Vejlby Klit is a dune area with high dunes and the North Sea to the west, the lake Ferring Sø towards the south and the large wetlands with migration birds towards the east and the north. The distance between the North Sea and the lake Ferring Sø is about 1.5 km.
Klosterhede Plantage is Denmark's largest planted forest. Among other animals, you can experience beavers here, which were released in the forest in 1999. The forest and moorland plain is located south of Lemvig and contains monuments from World War II, f.x. airstrips and bunkers, a large playground as well as many paths, bicycle tracks and wood-rides (app. 30 km towards southeast).
Activities
Lemvig Golfklub offers a beautiful, 18-hole golf course as well as a 6-hole Par-3 course in scenic and natural surroundings. From the courses you can enjoy the view of the conservation areas, the lake Horn Sø, the bay Lem Vig in the Liim Fiord as well as the North Sea (15 km from Vejlby Klit).
The varying nature area invites walks on the beach, in the dunes, by the lake Ferring Sø as well as in the plantation Klosterhede Plantage.
Anglers can throw out the line in the sea, the inlet, the lake Ferring Sø as well as in the Put & Take trout fishpond in the holiday park Vejlby Sommerpark.
Furthermore, it is possible to surf in the area.
Worth a visit
Less than 2 km from Vejlby Klit you will find the holiday park Vejlby Sommerpark, and here you can fish, rent riding horses, drive in a horse-drawn carriage or on funbikes, play minigolf and visit the animals of the petting zoo. The admission to the park is free.
The red, 26-m high lighthouse in Bovbjerg represents the highest point in the area, and from here you can enjoy a 35-km long view of the sea and the area.
In Thyborøn you can visit the coastal centre Kystcentret Thyborøn and the aquarium Jyllands Akvariet (16 km). Here you will find activities, exhibitions and aquaria for everyone. Stroke a shark, create your own thunderstorm or start a tornado.
Sneglehuset in Thyborøn is a house, which is decorated with millions of seashells both inside and outside. You can admire Denmark's greatest collection of snails and bottle ships in the house as well (16 km).
Excursion spots
Visit the wreckage museum St. George in Thorsminde, where you can get a glimpse of daily life onboard the English warships St. George and Defence. The museum was founded after one of the world¿s largest shipping accidents in the year 1811. Two English ships were shipwrecked here and more than 1,000 lives were lost right outside Thorsminde. Hear the tragic story and see objects from the two ships. Among the interesting finds you will find canons, gold coins, music instruments and weapons (25 km).
The open-air museum 'Hjerl Hede Frilandsmuseum' near Vinderup is an interesting and lifelike museum for the whole family. See among other things how the daily life in the country 150 years ago is vitalized (65 km).
Jesperhus Blomsterpark on the Liim Fiord island Mors is the largest flower park in Scandinavia with colourful flower arrangements, jungle zoo with beautiful tropical birds, pirate and play land as well as a water world (66 km).
