Sdr. Nissum is a recreational holiday house area by the inlet Nissum Fjord, the dune plantation 'Husby Klitplantage' and the North Sea.
 Sdr. Nissum is a cosy little village, situated right south of the inlet Nissum Fjord and immediately by the scenic dune plantation 'Husby Klitplantage' with the old trees and an extensive network of paths. The paths lead directly to the large dune area and the ocean, which lie only a few km from Sdr. Nissum.
The holiday house area is located in a calm area by the inlet in a varied landscape with trees and bushes.
In the village Sdr. Nissum you will find a tennis course, a football field, a church, handicraft shops, a candle factory, a flower shop, supermarkets, a baker and an inn.
Beach
The North Sea lies only a few km from Sdr. Nissum. A road and a path lead to the beach from Spidsbjerg. The beach is a fine sandy beach with Blue Flag and high preserved dunes. You are only allowed to walk in the dunes and on the beach.
Nature
The shallow inlet Nissum Fjord is an important breeding placed for wading birds.
The dune plantation 'Husby Klitplantage', situated behind the high dunes by the beach of Husby, has a very varied nature with i.a. many oaks, beeches, pines and firs. Outstanding nature experiences await you along the marked walking paths.
About 10 km southeast of Sdr. Nissum you will find the lakes 'Husby Sø' and 'Nørre Sø' - the only freshwater lakes in the area. Here you will find a rich bird life.
Activities
A playground in town and a forest playground in the small forest area by Nørhede are available. In Sdr. Nissum you can play tennis.
Both on the inlet as well as on the North Sea the possibilities for windsurfing are ideal.
With the dune plantation, the beach, the inlet and the lakes, the area around Sdr. Nissum is ideal for walks.
The anglers have good possibilities for a haul in the sea, in the inlet and in the surrounding streams.
Worth a visit
The church of Sdr. Nissum is a big old roman church, which was build around the year 1100. On the cemetery you will find a monument, erected for the casualties from the warships 'St. George' and 'Defence', which were shipwrecked in the year 1811.
The locality offers more galleries and handicraft shops.
Excursion spots
Visit the old and pretty provincial town Ringkøbing. The town is characterized by its houses with red tiled roofs and its old cobbled streets (30 km).
The commercial town Holstebro has a number of interesting specialist shops and good shopping possibilities in the traffic-free town centre. Furthermore, the town offers plenty of art and culture, cosy cafes and a beautiful environment around the stream (35 km).
The open-air museum 'Hjerl Hede Frilandsmuseum' near Vinderup is an interesting and lifelike museum for the whole family. See among other things how the daily life in the country 150 years ago is vitalized.
