Fjaltring is a small village in western Jutland, which is situated in a calm and scenic area, right north of the inlet Nissum Fjord.
 Fjaltring lies right at a lovely North Sea beach in a peaceful area. The town is famous for its culture centre, which is established in a well-preserved beach farm, as well as for its old, beautiful church.
It is possible to buy groceries in the area, but the good shopping possibilities you will find in the towns Lemvig (17 km), Struer (43 km) and Hostebro (44 km), which also offers activities, sights and restaurants.
Beach
Fjaltring has a really good and sandy beach with dunes and stone groynes. The beach is very suitable for children and ideal for swimming, relaxing, beach activities and walks. Furthermore, it is possible to find amber here after high tides. To fish from the groynes is also a popular activity here. You are not allowed to bring your car to the beach.
Nature
 Fjaltring lies elevated in a level area with low and scattered trees and bushes. The landscape varies between moorland plain, dunes and steep slopes towards the coast. The open landscape provides you with a good view of the North Sea and the area.
At the wetlands around the 5 km long lake Ferring Sø, which is situated about 6 km north of Fjaltring, you will find a large flock of birds. The distance between the North Sea and the lake Ferring Sø is only about 1.5 km.
The 6.7 hectare large plantation, Klosterhede Plantage, has forest areas, open moor areas and stream valleys, and is situated about 10 km inland from the coast.
Activities
Anglers have good possibilities for a haul from the groynes at the beach, in the inlet Nissum Fjord as well as in the fishpond Vejlby Klit Fiskesø. You can also rent your own boat and sail on the lake Ferring Sø.
The surf conditions are good around Fjaltring, as you can surf both on the North Sea and on the inlet Nissum Fjord.
The scenic nature around Fjaltring can also be experienced along the many bicycle and walking paths of the area.
Golf players can try out the courses with Holstebro Golfklub, Holmsland Klit Golfklub in Søndervig, Lemvig Golfklub and Struer Golfklub.
Worth a visit
 The beautiful old church Fjaltring Kirke from the 12th. century lays only a few metres from the North Sea. The cemetery is characterized by 2 granite sculptures.
On the outskirts of Fjaltring, the famous culture centre Tuskær is situated, and here you can experience the varying exhibitions.
Bovbjerg, only a few km north of Fjaltring, has a rich artistic life, a museum, a gallery as well as a couple of shops and restaurants. The 26 metres high red lighthouse in Bovbjerg lies right at the steep cliffs. The lighthouse is the highest point of the area, and from here it is possible to see as far as 35 km away.
The museum of Jens Søndergaard is situated at the edge of the cliff in Ferring, 6 km towards north. Here the artist painted his pictures of the area and in particular the ocean while quiet and while rough. The small village also contains a geologic miniature museum, a few shops and a small romantic church.
Excursion spots
In the park 'Vejlby Sommerpark' you can angle, rent riding horses, drive on front bikes, play minigolf and visit the animals in the pet zoo of the park.
In Thyborøn you will find both the coastal centre 'Kystcentret Thyborøn' and the aquarium 'Jyllands Akvariet' (30 km). These places have activities, exhibitions and aquariums for everyone. Stroke a shark, make your own thunderstorm or start f.x. a tornado.
The commercial town Holstebro has a number of interesting specialist shops and good shopping possibilities in the traffic-free town centre. Furthermore, the town offers plenty of art and culture, cosy cafes and a beautiful environment around the stream (44 km).
The open-air museum 'Hjerl Hede Frilandsmuseum' near Vinderup is an interesting and lifelike museum for the whole family. See how the daily life in the country 150 years ago is vitalized (64 km).
The flower park 'Jesperhus Blomsterpark' on the Liim Fiord island Mors also offers a jungle zoo and a play land (81 km).
