At Rindby Strand on the island Fanø you can experience 18 km of lovely white and sandy beach.
The 56 square kilometre island is situated only 1.5 km from the main land, and the ferry crossing from Esbjerg to Fanø takes no more than 13 minutes. The old, idyllic urban surroundings with it's characteristic thatched house, the narrow roads, the outstanding sandy beach, the fresh air, the scenic nature and the cosy island environment make Fanø an attractive holiday destination. Rindby Strand is located on the western side of Fanø, on the island's most narrow place, about 3 km from the ferry and skipper town Nordby. The holiday houses lie in an undulating landscape, right behind the beach. You will find more shops and restaurants in Rindby.
Beach
Fanø has one of Denmark's best beaches - an 18 km long, wide, clean, white and sandy beach with dunes that provide shelter is situated right at Rindby Strand. The beach is also very suitable for children, has Blue Flag, clear water and a sandy bottom.Due to the difference in water level during high and low tide, the possibilities of finding amber on the beach are very good. Furthermore are walks, swimming, surfing, kite flying and buggy driving very popular activities here. You are allowed to bring your car to the wide sandy beach.
Nature
The unique nature is characterized by dune landscapes, moor areas with heather, dikes, marsh, fields, beach, the North Sea and the Jutland Wadden Sea. The nature is unspoiled and the island has a rich wildlife and an abundance of birds. More rare bird species can be seen here and the growing seal population can be observed on the sand banks at the coast.The dune plantation Fanø Klitplantage is situated in the centre of the island, and here you will find 3 marked walking paths and a forest playground with a bbq.
Activities
At the Put & Take fishpond in Rindby anglers can haul trout. Riding horses can be rented in Rindby. Golf players can make use of the scenic seaside golf course behind the very first range of dunes in Nordby.
The forest playground in Fanø Klitplantage appeals to both children and adults.
Furthermore, it is possible to surf, bowl, play tennis, ride on horses, play minigolf and visit a water world on the island.
Lovely nature experiences await you along the many bicycle and walking paths.
Worth a visit
Many artists and craftsmen inhabit the island, and you can f.x. visit a candle factory in Rindby, more galleries in Nordby as well as amber cutters in both Nordby and Sønderho.Fanø Museum is established in a typical Fanø house in Nordby, and her you can gain an experience of how the people lived here 300 years ago (3 km).
The collection `Fanø Skibsfarts- og Dragtsamling' in Nordby exhibits a comprehensive collection of sailing ships and costumes as well as 2 intact living rooms from an old home of a ship owner.
Sønderho is a small, well-preserved fishing village with beautiful, thatched houses on the most southern point of Fanøs. Here you will find peace and quiet (12 km).
Hannes Hus is a modest Sønderho home from the 18th. century, which is well-preserved and almost intact.
The art and the relics of culture can be experienced in the many museums, i.a. the art museum `Fanø Kunstmuseum' in Sønderho.
