Ejstrupholm is situated in the scenic nature of Central Jutland, close to the town Brande.
A holiday in the small village of Ejstrupholm on the moors of Jutland is tantamount to peace, quiet, fresh air and lots of space. In the neighbourhood you will find many leisure activities and sights. Because of the location of town, right in the heart of Jutland, you will find a number of excursion points within a short distance. It is possible to buy groceries in Ejstrupholm. Within a distance of 7-20 kilometres from Ejstrupholm the towns Nørre-Snede, Give, Ikast and Brande are located. In these towns you will find more shops and restaurants. Ejstrupholm is an Eldorado for those, who wish to enjoy nature and fish in the many lakes, pond and streams of the area.
Beach By Brande, about 10 km from Ejstrupholm, a lovely bathing lake with a sandy beach has been established. The lake is very suitable for children. As Ejstrupholm is located in the middle of the country, it is far to the sea and the beach. The distance to the beaches by the east coast (Saksild Strand and Rude Strand) is about 80 km. A 65 km long drive brings you to the beach Skaven Strand by the inlet Ringkøbing Fjord and about 90 km from Ejstrupholm you will find the North Sea and the beach Nymindegab Strand.
Nature
The stream Holtum Å is abounding in fish and winds beautifully through the landscape, close past Ejstrupholm. Harrild Hede is one of the largest moor areas in Central Jutland. The area is situated only a few km west of Ejstrupholm. The open landscape with moor, plantation, purling streams and a rich animal life is an amazing experience. The plantation Hastrup Plantage is a scenic forest area north-west of Ejstrupholm with i.a. 4 marked walking paths and the lake Hastrup Sø, surrounded by forest. The idyllic lake Hampen Sø in the forest Palsgård Skov is one of Denmark's purest lakes, and it is located just north of Nørre Snede. The area is a former moor plantation and more walking paths lead you around in the area. 'Den skæve bane' (the uneven path) is a bicycle and walking path, which takes you through a scenic landscape from Brande to Funder (26 km). The route of the Jutland ridge is an old line section.
Activities The fishing possibilities of the area are unique. You can throw out the line in the lakes, ponds and streams of the area, and furthermore, no less than 6 Put & Take fishponds are available in the surrounding country. Golf players can try out the lovely courses in f.x. Brande, Ikast, Herning and Give. The area has an extensive network of walking routs as well as nature and bicycle paths. Along the paths you can enjoy the alternating landscape and the peaceful nature at close range. Furthermore, you can bowl, drive in go-karts, play tennis and squash, skate and visit water worlds in the surrounding towns.
Worth a visit The regional museum 'Højderyggens Egnsmuseum' in Nørre-Snede informs of the hard life of the moorland farmer and displays a collection textiles and tools (7 km). Visit the small town Brande, which is famous for its many gable paintings and sculptures (12 km). The culture-historical museum 'Give-Egnens-Museum' contains among other things an exhibition about the life and efforts of the moorland farmer, a historical kitchen, a herb garden, an apple grove and 25 hectares of forest with a lake and paths. 'Hærvejen' is an old ox road and pilgrim route. It is more than thousand years old and leads all the way from Viborg to the German border, close past Ejstrupholm. The scenic road leads you through hills, moor landscapes, river valleys and hardwood forests, past grave mounds from the iron and bronze ages and stone circles from the viking age.
Excursion spots Givskud is a combined lion park and zoo. Here you drive around among the wild animals and experience both hippopotamuses and lions at close range. The animal park is situated only 22 km from Ejstrupholm. LEGOLAND is build out of 50 million toy bricks. The park offers a number of opportunities for family activities (30 km). In the town Jelling you can experience the `birth certificate' of Denmark in the shape of the stones 'Jellingestenene'. The runic stones were erected by 'Gorm den Gamle' in the honour of Harald Blåtand (31 km). The 147 metres high mountain 'Himmelbjerget' by Silkeborg is one of the areas most famous and scenic excursion points. From the top of the mountain, or the top of the tower on the mountain, you will have a magnificent view of the landscape. Besides the nature, Silkeborg offers a number of cultural sights, attractions, museums, galleries, shops, restaurants and amusements for the whole family (37 km).
