Sønderby is situated on the peninsular Bjerreherred, between Horsens and Juelsminde, and right opposite the island Endelave.
 The holiday house area of Sønderby is situated in an undisturbed and cosy area in the cove 'As Vig' by the Kattegat. Forest, hills, moors, meadows, grain fields and beach characterize the nature, surrounding Sønderby. Sønderby is a quiet area and appeals to those, who are in search of peace and lovely nature during their holiday. If it gets to quiet, a number of leisure activities and sights are available near Sønderby.
Beach
The beach of Sønderby is a 5 km long and good sandy beach. The water is shallow by the edge, which makes the beach suitable for children. From the Kattegat beach you can enjoy the sight of the sunrise.
Nature
Good nature experiences await you along the many walking and bicycle paths in the lovely and varying nature, surrounding Sønderby.
In the forest 'Palsgård Skov', a couple of km south of Sønderby, you will find a large tree and flower park as well as the estate 'Palgsård Gods' and the belonging palace garden.
Around the scenic lake 'Teglværkssøen', close to Juelsminde, green recreational area with benches and tables are available. A perfect place for a picnic.
The nearby forest 'Stouby-Grund Skov' is situated in a hilly terrain and offers good walking paths (20 km).
Activities
Anglers will find good opportunities in this area, as it is possible to fish directly from the shores of the bay 'As Vig', from the cape 'As Hoved' and in the many lakes of the area (i.a. Teglværkssøen by Juelsminde).
The golf course of 'Juelsminde Golfklub' is situated only a few km from Sønderby. This 18-hole course is situated in scenic surroundings and offers a panoramic view of the bay 'Juelsmindebugten'.
Windsurfers will also find good conditions around Juelsminde.
Worth a visit
By the estate 'Palsgård Gods', which is situated in the forest 'Palsgård Skov', you will find the castle park 'Palsgård Slotspark' with trees, flowers, a goldfish pond and a castle lake.
'Glud Museum', about 4 km from Sønderby, is an open-air museum with i.a. a farm, built round a quadrangle, and different workshops.
You will find a large harbour and marina in Juelsminde, which is situated 8 km south of Sønderby.
Visit f.x. some of the many galleries, glass factories, potteries and workshops, which are available on the Juelsminde peninsular.
Excursion spots
7 km north of Sønderby you can go with the ferry from the small and idyllic fishing hamlet/ferry berth Snaptun by the inlet 'Horsens Fjord' to the islands Endelave and Hjarnø.
On the peaceful island Hjarnø, situated very close to the mainland, you will find a bird sanctuary.
The island Endelave in the Kattegat, about 10 km offshore from Snaptun, is characterized by lovely nature, which invites walks and bicycle trips year round.
Visit Horsens, which was nominated 'town of the year' in 2002. Horsens is with it's scenic location, the many cultural offers, the widest pedestrian street in northern Europe, the inlet, the industrial museum 'Danmarks Industrimuseum', 'Horsens Museum' and the cosy atmosphere always worth a visit.
In Givskud you can visit a combined lion park and zoo. Meet with more than 1,000 animals from the whole world on the 60 hectares large area.
