Rinkenæs is scenically situated by the inlet 'Flensborg Fjord'.

Romantic forests, adventurous castles and historic sights characterize the South Jutland nature, surrounding Rinkenæs. It is possible to buy groceries in the area. The nearest larger towns with sights and good shopping possibilities are Flensborg and Sønderborg, which are both located about 20 km from Rinkenæs.

Beach
There are no good bathing spots directly by the holiday house area, but the beach 'Alnor Strandpark' is situated only 4 km from the holiday area. This lovely bathing beach is very suitable for children and a playground is available here.
The beach of Rendbjerg (8 km) is a small and sandy beach with a bathing jetty and a boat harbour. Windsurfers will find good conditions by the beach of Rendbjerg.

Nature
In the forests 'Gråsten Skovene' you can experience an unusually varying vegetation and animal life as well as lovely viewpoints, like f.x. 'Humlebjerg', along the many walking and bicycle paths of the area. Enjoy the nature forest with the 500 years old oaks, the barrows, the game, the brooding birds of prey, Denmark's largest colony of herons, lakes with perches, streams and lakes, which are abounding in fish and named after Danish princesses (6 km).
The plantation 'Kværs Plantage' is an area of moor and wetlands. Enjoy the magnificent sight of the moor when it blooms in August and September (11 km).
The path 'Gendarmstien', which begins by the beach of Rendbjerg (8 km), leads you through Vemmingbund and scenic landscapes. The path ends by Brunsnæs, which is an old and cosy ferry berth with a lovely bathing beach and an inn.

Activities
South Jutland is rich in activities, especially during the summer. Experience f.x. town fairs, riding at the ring, cattle shows and markets. Take a trip with the historic railway, which drives between Aabenraa (37 km) and Rødekro (41 km) or go on a sail with the paddle steamer from Aabenraa.
The golf course of 'Benniksgaard Golf Center', which is situated only a few hundred metres from the holiday area, is one of Denmark's most scenic courses, and the only one, which is situated in a preserved area. From here you can enjoy the scenic view of the inlet 'Flensborg Fjord'.
You can fish directly from the shore, along the many beaches and from the piers, or from the fishing vessel 'M/S Alma', which sails out from Gråsten (6 km).
Furthermore, it is possible to play minigolf and ninepins or on horseback and bicycle. You can rent bicycles by the tourist information in Gråsten.

Worth a visit
The old church of Rinkenæs 'Rinkenæs Gl. Kirke', which was build in 1158 in Romanesque style, is one of the oldest churches in Denmark. The church walls and the cemetery with the many monument bear witness of the many wars, which have taken place here.
The largest sight of the area is the castle 'Gråsten Slot' and the belonging palace garden, which has been established by the Danish Queen Ingrid (6 km). The profusely decorated castle church and the castle park, which is abounding in flowers, are open to the public.
The church of Broager has two spires and is decorated with frescos from the 13th. and the 16th. century. On the cemetery you can still see many war graves from the year 1864 (11 km).
'Cathrinesminde Teglværksmuseum' by Broager is a well-preserved industrial plant from the end of the 19th. century. Today, the former brickfield function as a museum (14 km).

Excursion spots
The mill 'Dybbøl Mølle' (originally from the year 1744) by Sønderborg was formerly situated in the middle of a military area and today it function as a small museum with pictures and memorials from the battlefield (15 km).
In the southern part of the forest 'Kobbelskoven' you can experience many interesting relics of the past, like i.a. 2 long barrows, 2 cromlechs and 7 grave mounds from the bronze age (17 km).
Visit Sønderborg with the beautiful waterfront, the historic buildings and the castle, where you can admire collections from the Middle Ages and up till today (20 km).
'Sommerland Syd' in Tinglev is the largest amusement park in South Jutland. Here you will find action, speed and excitement for both children and adults (28 km).
Høruphav on Als is a small and cosy fishing hamlet (28 km). Here you will find 'Dansk Glaskunst', which is the only glassblowing factory in Northern Europe, where stones are worked into solid and hand-made glass.
