The holiday house area Kelstrup lies in quiet and scenic surroundings, right by the Little Belt.
 Kelstrup is situated in the bay 'Diernæs Bugt', just south of Haderslev, in a lovely family area, close to forest and beach.
It is possible to buy groceries in the area, and Haderslev, 9 km towards north-west, offers a variety of shopping possibilities.
The good beach, the lovely nature, the many leisure activities and sights, both fun and cultural, are within reach from Kelstrup.
Beach
A good and sandy bathing beach, facing south, with more bathing jetties is available by Kelstrup. The clear bathing water is shallow by the edge, the waves are small and no surf is present here. Therefore the beach is very suitable for children. The beach belongs among some of the best bathing beaches in South Jutland.
Nature
 The plantation 'Kelstrup Plantage' is a lovely pine forest with a rich animal life, which surrounds the holiday house area by the beach of Kelstrup.
The valley 'Haderslev Tunneldal', just south of Haderslev, contains the valley 'Tunneldalen', the forest 'Pamhule Skov' and the animal park 'Dyrehaven'. The animal park 'Dyrehaven' is a 100 hectares large, scenic area with forest, open grassy areas and meadows. About 100 fallow deer live in the park. The scenic forest 'Pamhule Skov' is a 300 hectares large forest with a rich animal life and many hills and slopes. In the valley 'Tunneldalen' you will find 4 marked walking routes as well as a number of paths, which enable you to experience the unique nature on foot and on bicycle.
Activities
Anglers will find good opportunities along the shores, where the fishing water is good and the bottom is partly sandy, partly stony and partly weedy. You can also fish in the Put & Take fishponds of the area or on the sea. Deep-sea fishing trips onboard a fishing vessel are arranged in Aabenraa and Haderslev.
The varying vegetation on the sea floor as well as an old German submarine station make the area around Diernæs, about 8 km south of Kelstrup, an interesting place for divers.
Golf players can try out some of the 9 courses in South Jutland.
The area is also very suitable for walks along the shores, on the beach, through the fields and in the forests. Equally, a number of good bicycle routes are available in the area, i.a. along the route 'Østersø-ruten'.
Worth a visit
In the plantation 'Kelstrup Plantage' you can experience grave mounds from the stone age, the bronze age and the iron age.
The mill 'Runde Mølle' is situated on Løjtland, just south of Hejsager, where you can also enjoy the sight of the many restored houses with thatched roofs.
The island Barsø, which is situated about 1 km offshore from Diernæs, functioned as a submarine base during World War 1.
2 old bunkers from World War 2 can still be seen in the bay by Diernæs.
You will find a number of interesting castles in the area, like f.x. 'Aabenraa Slot', 'Gram Slot' and 'Gottorp Slot' (the latter in Germany).
Excursion spots
Visit the old marked town Haderslev. Here you will find a cosy pedestrian street, many green recreational areas, an old part of town with gently restored houses, more interesting museums and collections as well as the beautiful cathedral (9 km).
'Sommerland Syd' in Tinglev is the largest amusement park in South Jutland. Here you will find action, speed and excitement for both children and adults (50 km).
LEGOLAND is build out of 50 million toy bricks. More than 50 activities provide you with speed, excitement and experiences! 'The funniest playground for the whole family' offers knights in armaments, pirates, tough cowboys, wild Indians and much more (78 km).
In Givskud you can visit a combined lion park and zoo. Drive around among the wild animals and get close to both hippos and lions (88 km).
