Holiday Gråsten, SE Jutland, DenmarkGråsten is situated 15 km west of Sønderborg, and 16 km from the Danish-German border. Here you will find the beautiful, white castle Gråsten Slot, which is occupied by the Danish queen from time to time, and here you can experience the changing of the guards. The lovely, adjoining palace garden can be visited when the castle is uninhabited. Gråsten also offers a cosy town environment, a charming marina, many traces from the past as well as the idyllic forests Gråsten Skovene. The area, surrounding Gråsten, is rich in both historic sights and amusements for the whole family. Experience the traditional riding at the ring, which is especially popular in this area.

Beach
On both sides of Gråsten you will find tranquil, sheltered and child-friendly bathing beaches.
The beach Fiskenæs Strand on the peninsular Fiskenæs is located within less than 1 km from the centre of Gråsten. The lovely sandy beach invites sunbathing, swimming as well as beach and water activities.
Visit the beach Alnor Strandpark, which lies 2 km south of Gråsten. The good sandy beach is very suitable for children because of the shallow water, and furthermore, a playground is available her.
The beach of Rendbjerg (4 km) is a small sandy beach with a bathing jetty and a boat harbour. By Rendbjerg Strand the opportunities for windsurfing are good.
In addition to the above, the beaches Marina Minde, Adsbøl Strand, Brændstoft Strand, Dalsgårde Strand, Rinkenæs Strand and Sandager Strand are worth a visit.

Nature
GråstenThe lake Gråsten Slotssø is situated in Gråsten and is the stamping ground for many animals and birds.
In the beautiful forests Gråsten Skovene you can experience an exceptionally varying animal life and vegetation as well as scenic viewpoints, like f.x. Humlebjerg, along the many walking and bicycle routes. Enjoy the nature forest with the 500 years old oak trees, barrows, game, brooding birds of prey, Denmark's largest colony of herons, lakes with perches, streams, which is abounding in fish, as well as pretty lakes, which have been named after Danish princesses.
You can also visit the nearby forests Over- og Nederstjernen, Rinkenæs Skovene and Roden Skov, which all offer beautiful and idyllic nature.

Activities
The lovely nature surroundings and the beautiful forests invite walks, rides and bicycle trips in the landscape.
Anglers can fish directly from the shore, in the Put & Take fishponds of the area or from fishing vessels.
Benniksgaard Golf Center, a few km south of Gråsten, offers one of Denmark's most scenic golf courses. The 18-hole course is situated in a preserved area, from which you can enjoy the unique view of the inlet Flensborg Fjord.
During the summer a number of activities are arranged in South Jutland, and you can experience town fairs, riding at the ring, cattle shows and markets among other things.

Worth a visit
GråstenThe castle and palace garden of Gråsten from 1759 are surrounded by a scenic nature with forest and a lake. The profusely decorated chapel and the flowery palace garden, which has been elaborated by the queen Ingrid, are open to the public.
The Romanesque church Rinkenæs Gl. Kirke from 1158 is one of Denmark's oldest churches. The church wall and the cemetery bear witness of the many wars that took place here (4 km).
'Cathrinesminde Teglværksmuseum' by Broager is a well-preserved industrial plant from the end of the 19th century. Today, the former brickfield function as a museum (7 km).
The mill 'Dybbøl Mølle' (originally from the year 1744) was formerly situated in the middle of a military area and today it functions as a small museum with pictures and memorials from the battlefield. Visit the history centre Historiecenter Dybbøl Banke with exhibitions regarding the battle in 1864 as well (11 km).

Excursion spots
Visit Sønderborg with the many cultural offers, the leisure activities, the beautiful marina and the impressive baroque castle (15 km).
Take a daytrip to the German border, which is situated only 16 km from Gråsten.
Sommerland Syd is southern Jutland's largest amusement park with more than 84 interesting entertainments for the whole family. Try the tornado - Denmark's wildest, fastest and highest switchback - in Sommerland Syd by Tinglev (25 km).
Danfoss Universe in Nordborg is a bran new and unique centre of experiences, which deals with the forces of nature as well as the strange world of science. The world-famed concern Danfoss presents Danfoss Universe (40 km).
