The small harbour town Fynshav is situated on Als and surrounded by beautiful forests.


Holiday Fynshav, SE Jutland, DenmarkFynshav is a cosy harbour town with clean bathing beaches and a go-cart track. The holiday houses of Fynshav are situated close to the Little Belt. In the immediate vicinity of Fynshav you will find the scenic forest areas 'Nørreskov' and 'Oleskobbel'. It is possible to buy groceries in the area, and the scenically situated town Sønderborg offers good shopping possibilities, restaurants, many museums and leisure activities (16 km).

Beach
The beach of Fynshav is a good bathing beach with Blue Flag.
About 16 km from the holiday house area you will find an undisturbed beach in the bird sanctuary 'Trillen'.
It is said that the 5 km long beach of Skovmose is the best bathing beach on Als (21 km). The wide and sandy beach invites swimming, sunbathing and various beach activities, like i.a. kite flying and beach volley. The water is very calm, as the beach is sheltered by Funen and the island Ærø as well as the German border.
It is always possible to find a sheltered beach on Als. If the weather is windy on the one side, you can go to the other side in no time.

Nature
Als has a very mild climate, and therefore it is possible to see exotic plants here, which cannot grow anywhere else in Denmark. In the forest 'Sønderskoven' by Sønderborg a 25-30 metres high Californian tree is growing.
Hills and valleys characterize the landscape on Als, and along the 165 km long coastline the nature is very versatile. Inlets and coves supersede cliffs and bathing beaches. In the spring you are able to hear the characteristic croaking of the green fire-bellied toad more places on Als.
Als has some of the most lovely forest areas in Denmark. 'Nørreskoven' is the largest forest on the island and ideal for walks and bicycle trips. It is also possible to drive in car through the forest. You will find Northern Europe¿s largest collection of cromlechs in the forests 'Blommeskobbel' and 'Oleskobbel'. The area 'Dybbøl Banke' contains 10 redoubts and is laid down as a national park.

Activities
On Als you can swim, surf and sail. Anglers will also find ideal opportunities here, as it is possible to fish directly from the shore, in the Put & Take fishponds of the area as well as on the sea. You can rent boats in the area.
The holiday house area contains more bicycle routes, which lead through the scenic landscape. Enjoy f.x. a walk along the beach, over the fields, through the forests, on the peninsular Kegnæs or along the path 'Gendarmstien', which leads your along the shore.
Around Als it is possible to dive down to more wrecks. If you don't wish to dive, you can follow the divers from the club 'Als Dykkerklub' on a large screen while they dive.
Furthermore, Als offers 2 golf courses.

Worth a visit
Høruphav is a small and cosy fishing hamlet with a boat harbour (16 km). Enjoy the cosy atmosphere or follow a walking path, which leads to the nature area 'Trillen', where you can observe the bird life from a gazebo.
In the glass factory 'Dansk Glaskunst' in Høruphav you can experience the workshop and watch the glassblowers work. Only sand, soda, lime as well as approved dyestuffs and raw materials are used here. 'Dansk Glaskunst' is the only glass factory in Northern Europe, where stones are incorporated in solid, hand made glass.
Visit Sønderborg with the beautiful waterfront, the historic buildings, the good shopping possibilities and the castle, where you can admire collections from the Middle Ages and up till today (16 km).
In 'Danfoss Museum og Teknorama', which is situated directly next to the Danfoss factory in Nordborg, you can experience an industrial adventure from the modern times and the future (23 km).

Excursion spots
Experience the castle 'Augustenborg Slot' (4 km), the watermill 'Vibæk Vandmølle' and the museum, belonging to the mill, (18 km), the mill 'Dybbøl Mølle' from the year 1744, which is situated on the former battlefield 'Dybbøl Banke Nationalpark' (20 km) as well as the castle 'Nordborg Slot' from the year 1150 (23 km).
From Fynshav you can sail to Funen and from the harbour of Mommark the ferry sails to the cosy and evocative island Ærø.
The brickfield 'Cathrinesminde Teglværksmuseum' in Broager was build in 1732 and function as a museum today. Take part in a tour on the spot and learn more about the large machines, the tools for the manufacturing of brick and the workday of the individual worker (25 km).
