Ajstrup Strand is a centrally located and lovely holiday area, surrounded by forest and beach.
 The holiday house area Ajstrup Strand is situated in the scenic eastern Jutland, just north of the place, where the inlet 'Kysing Fjord' flows into the Kattegat, and 18 km south of Århus, 'the world's smallest city'. The town Ajstrup is situated a couple of km inland behind the coast. Norsminde is situated 3 km south of Ajstrup Strand, and here you will find a bird sanctuary and a cosy marina. It is possible to buy groceries in Ajstrup and the area offers more restaurants.
Beach
The wide beach of Ajstrup is a good bathing beach, which is suitable for children. A bathing jetty is available on the beach. The waves of the Kattegat make the beach very suitable for windsurfers as well. The wind creates good conditions for flying with kites here.
Nature
 The scenic beech forest north of Ajstrup Strand is at more places reflected in the sea.
The valley 'Fuldendalen' and the forest 'Fløjstrup Skov' towards north is an undulating and clefted forest area with meadow areas, a rich bird life and a stream, which winds through the area. Here you will find a number of walking paths.
From the elevated nature areas it is possible to se all the way to Mols and the islands Samsø and Tunø.
The forest 'Marselisborgskovene' is situated in the southern outskirts of Århus - a very scenic area with many bicycle and walking paths. Here you can also get close to i.a. roe deer and wild boar within an enclosed area.
Activities
Anglers will find good fishing opportunities along the shores by Ajstrup Strand.
A number of golf courses are available in the south-eastern part of Denmark. The nearest ones are those of the clubs 'Aarhus Golf Club' and 'Odder Golfklub'.
Towards north you will find bicycle paths along the shores.
The many walking paths of the nature areas and the forests, surrounding Ajstrup Strand, enable you to experience the lovely nature at close range.
Worth a visit
A number of excavations have taken place along the inlet by Norsminde and resulted in significant finds from the stone age.
The district is rich in historic sights, and you can i.a. experience churches and ruins of churches, a long house with stone cists, monuments and ruins from the viking age.
Moesgård Museum has been established on the manor house Moesgård and contains archaeological collections from both Denmark and the Persian Gulf. The place is idyllically situated and surrounded by lovely forest, which leads all the way down to the bay of Århus (7 km).
'Den Økologiske Have' (the ecological garden) by Odder is the largest ecological garden in Scandinavia. Get inspired in the large garden with theme gardens, animals, grain and flower fields (13 km).
Excursion spots
The history of the district can be seen at the regional museum 'Odder Egnsmuseum'. Here you can experience the preserved water and steam mill 'Odder Vand- og Dampmølle', a farmhouse room from the 18th. century and more interesting exhibitions (14 km).
Visit Århus, the 'capital' of Jutland, with the amusement park 'Tivoli Friheden', the open-air museum 'Den Gamle By', the music house 'Musikhuset', the small and intimate alleys of the Latin Quarter, the cosy pedestrian streets, the lively atmosphere by the stream 'Vadestedet' as well as the forest 'Marselisborgskoven' (18 km).
From Hov, 22 km south of Ajstrup Strand, the ferry sails daily to the island Samsø. Bring f.x. the bike to the island, which offers a unique nature, peace, quiet, idyll and many leisure activities.
LEGOLAND, about 113 km from Ajstrup, is build out of 50 million toy bricks. Here you will find lots of amusements for the whole family.
