Smidstrup Strand is one of North Sealand's most lovely seaside towns with a beach, a good atmosphere, peace and scenic nature.
 The holiday house area Smidstrup Strand is situated between Rågeleje and Gilleleje and only a few km from the amusement park 'Nordsjællands Sommerland'. Here you will find a lovely beach, scenic nature areas, peace, quiet, good leisure activities and sights for the whole family.
The town Smidstrup is situated inland behind the shore, and here you will find both shopping possibilities and restaurants.
Beach
The lovely, wide and sandy beach with stones has a sandy bottom, Blue Flag as well as a bathing jetty with a rail and stairs. During the summer period lifeguards keep an eye out for the bathers on the beach. Next to the lifeguard station you will find a place for a bonfire. The beach of Smidstrup is one of the few places in Denmark, where you are allowed to light a fire on the beach.
Large, green recreational areas are available right behind the beach.
Enjoy the magnificent sunset from the beach or the bathing jetty.
Nature
 'Gilbjerghoved' by Gilleleje is situated 35 metres above sea level. From here you can enjoy the scenic view of the area and the Kattegat. Gilberg is a popular resting place for migratory birds.
'Heatherhill' by Rågeleje is a beautiful, preserved and undulating area with large heathery hills, which lead all the way down to the Kattegat. The main part of Heatherhill is covered with moor and heather, and the sheeps walk around freely on the heathery hills (6 km).
'Tibirke Bakker' is a lovely and preserved nature area with heathery hills. From viewpoints in the area, you can enjoy great views of the area (12 km).
The forest 'Grib Skov' is one of Denmark's largest forests. Here you will find marked walking and bicycle routes, beautiful and historic places as well as the lake 'Esrum Sø', which is scenically surrounded by an untouched landscape with forests and meadows. Here you can swim, sail and study the birds in the bird sanctuary (17 km).
Activities
Anglers will find good opportunities along the shore and especially by the reef opposite Smidstrup Strand. Furthermore, a couple of Put & Take fishponds are available in the area.
North Sealand is rich in golf courses, and the courses of 'Gilleleje Golfklub', 'Helsinge Golfklub', 'Asserbo Golf Klub' and 'Passebækgård' are the nearest.
The steep slopes and the favourable wind conditions of the nature area 'Heatherhill' makes the place ideal for paragliders.
Tennis courts are available in Gilleleje.
Lovely nature experiences await you along the many walking routs of the area.
Worth a visit
 Visit the farm 'Smidstrup-Farmen', where you can experience all kinds of domestic farm animals, drive on a tractor and ride on the ponies (2 km).
Gilleleje has an old quarter, idyllic alleys and small fishing houses. At the evocative harbour you will experience a vivid activity and often it is possible to buy fresh fish directly from the fishing boats (6 km).
In 'Gilleleje Museum' you can experience exhibitions concerning the fishing industry as well as an old fishing house.
The amusement park 'Nordsjællands Sommerpark' in Græsted is a cornucopia of amusements and activities for both children and adults. Among other things it offers a jungle path and a water world (6 km).
At the museum 'Rudolf Tegners Museum' in Dronningmølle the plaster and marble sculptures of the sculptor Tegner are exhibited (13 km).
By the scenic, preserved area 'Rusland' by Dronningmølle an art museum and a large collection of outdoor bronze statues are available (14 km).
Excursion spots
The old Cistercian convent 'Esrum Kloster' from the year 1151 has a beautiful convent garden and a small convent pharmacy. The convent is scenically situated by the lake 'Esrum Sø' (17 km).
In North Sealand you will find more interesting castles. With its towers and spires 'Frederiksborg Slot' looks like something out of a fairy-tale (28 km). 'Fredensborg Slot' is the summer residence of the Danish Queen (32 km). 'Kronborg Slot' is situated by the 'gate' to the sound Øresund (35 km).
Louisiana in Humlebæk is a museum for modern art. The unique museum buildings and the beautiful old park create interesting settings for the art (36 km).
The 'Karen Blixen Museum' at Rungstedlund has been established with gallery, exhibitions, the private living rooms of Karen Blixen, a slide department, a library room and a café (44 km).
Experience the capital Copenhagen with the vivid culture life, museums, music, theatres, galleries, the pedestrian street 'Strøget' and the many sights (75 km).
