Holiday areas of outstanding beauty at the inlet Roskilde Fjord near one of the oldest towns in Denmark
 Roskilde is the ideal holiday area for a bathing holiday with your family, nature experiences and to get an idea of history and culture in Denmark.
If you take a holiday on Sealand, you can enjoy relaxing days at wonderful beaches, visit royal palaces, take a long walk in the forests, sail to small islands, visit amusement parks such as Sommerland Sjælland, and make use of the many cultural offers presented to you in Copenhagen.
The beautiful natural resort at Roskilde Fjord characterizes your holiday area. It has an extensive range of bird life and invites to bathing, angling and refreshing walks in the unique landscape.
Within a radius of 3 km it is possible to buy groceries, and approx. 15 km from your holiday home is Roskilde, one of the oldest towns in Denmark. In Roskilde you will find the beautiful Roskilde Cathedral, interesting museums and good shopping possibilities.
Beach
At Roskilde Fjord there are many bathing possibilities, but if you want to bathe from another beach, Herslev Strand (3 km) is a good alternative. It has shallow water and course sand and is very suitable for children. At Borrevejle Centret, approx. 5 km from your holiday home, you will find a beach with course sand and grass. Here it is possible to rent canoes if you want to see the area from the waterside.
Nature
 In the nature reserve at the inlet Roskilde Fjord the water is very shallow, almost all over the inlet with depths of less than 6 metres - and here you will find a large number of wading birds, which breed on the approx. 30 small islands and tongues.
Experience the inlet, e.g. from a Viking ship or a modern boat, and enjoy the view over small islands, abruptly sloping shores and an extensive range of bird life.
Hedeland (22 km) is a 1,500 ha large unique scenic recreational area with outdoor activities. Here you will find wide plains, seas, woods and hills with an interesting flora and fauna.
The very high-lying forest, Lystrup Skov (42 km) is divided by a very large melting valley from the end of the Ice Age. The eastern part of the forest is one of the hilliest areas in Denmark. But then the western part is flatter with a big, beautiful clearing.
Activities
If you are a golfer, you are very well located in this area.
The golf course of Roskilde Golf Klub is only approx. 10 km from the holiday home area and Holbæk Golfklub (24 km) offers you a special experience because of its unique location directly by the peninsular Kirsebærholmen.
There are many other different activities within a radius of 20 km from Roskilde and the surrounding country. Visit e.g. Roskilde Bowling Center, Roskilde Badet, a swimming bath for the entire family, or the 1250 m long Go-cart-track in Roskilde Racing Center. If you are interested in angling, there are many opportunities of fishing well-fed trouts in the inlet Roskilde Fjord - or you may visit Roskilde Fiskeland (14 km) with two lakes (a small and a bigger one) with facilities such as playing grounds, toilets, barbeque, cleaning tables with water access, kiosk and parking around the lakes. A tour with the nostalgic preserved railway line Hedelands Veteranbane (22) km is recommended.
Worth a visit
 More than 1000 years ago, one of the oldest towns in Denmark, Roskilde was the trading centre of the Vikings and, and it has since then developed into an important town. The beautiful Cathedral of Roskilde with its red bricks is just one of the many attractions of this town.
In the cathedral you will find sepulchral chapels and an interesting museum illustrating a thousand years of Cathedral history. See among other things the precious dress the children of Christian IV were buried in.
In the Vikingeskibsmuseet, the museum of Viking ships in Roskilde you can see ships from the Viking period as well as other Nordic boats (15 km).
Many grave mounds in the area of Bramsnæs bear witness to settlements in the prehistoric Denmark.
On the northern part of Ådalen, Ejby Ådal, you will find the single-stone monument Troldbykællingen, and in the museum of Bramsnæs in Kirke Hyllinge you can learn more about how people lived in this area - from ancient history till today.
Excursion spots
In Skibby (23 km) you will find the castle Selsø Slot with an interesting museum and one of the noblest great halls in Denmark. Here you can among other things admire the beautiful ceiling stucco and the two Versailles mirrors.
The town Holbæk (26 km) is well worth a visit. Here you can go shopping, stroll along the marina and visit Holbæk Museum, which consists of 13 historic buildings. In the historic event centre Andelslandsbyen Nyvang (a co-operative village) situated at Holbæk you can visit the old forge from1869 or try one of the specialties from the kitchen of the small holding.
The castle Dragsholm Slot by Hørve (50 km) is the oldest castle in Denmark. The original fortress is from the early Middle Age and contains a dungeon and many ghost stories.
But also the capital Copenhagen with its royal flair (50 km) is well worth a visit.
If you would like to visit an amusement park with your children, Sommerland Sjælland by Nykøbing (60 km) can be recommended.
