Rågeleje is an old and popular holiday resort in scenic surroundings on the northern coast of Sealand.
 Right by a long and lovely North Sealand bathing beach and large, preserved nature areas you will find the old, charming fishing hamlet Rågeleje. A lovely esplanade with an ice cream stall, a café and a restaurant stretches along the water. It is possible to buy groceries and dine in the area. The nearest larger towns are Helsinge (10 km) and Gilleleje (11 km).
Don't miss the magnificent sunsets from i.a. the beach or the preserved hills 'Heatherhill'. Here you will find peace, quiet, fields, beach and fresh air.
Beach
The beach of Rågeleje is a long and lovely bathing beach with fine sand and a few rocks. The beach has the Blue Flag. During the school holidays a lifeguard keeps an eye out for the bathers.
The beach stretches along with the esplanade and the road 'Strandvejen'. The beach is facing north-west and lies relatively unsheltered by the Kattegat. Therefore wind and kitesurfers will also find good conditions here.
Nature
 'Heatherhill' by Rågeleje is a large, preserved, undulating and very scenic area, which stretches all the way down to the Kattegat. The main part of Heatherhill is covered with moor and heather plants and the sheeps walk around freely on the heathery hills. The distinctive hills and valleys invite walks.
'Tibirke Bakker' is a lovely and preserved nature area with heathery hills. From viewpoints in the area, you can enjoy the great view of the lake 'Arresø', the forest 'Grib Skov' and a bite of the inlet 'Roskilde Fjord'.
With its 5,600 hectares the forest 'Grib Skov' is one of Denmark's largest forests. A number of marked walking and bicycle routes as well as more scenic and historic places are available here.
With its 40 square kilometres the lake 'Arresø' is the largest lake in Denmark. Here you will find good opportunities for walks and bicycle rides along the lake. The route around the lake is 50 km long (26 km).
Activities
Anglers will find good opportunities along the shores of North Sealand.
North Sealand is rich in golf courses, and the courses of 'Helsinge Golfklub' with 18 holes (10 km), 'Asserbo Golf Klub' by Frederiksværk, 'Passebækgård' with 9 holes and 'Gilleleje Golfklub' with 18 holes are the closest.
By Rågeleje you will find the area 'Heatherhill'. The steep slopes and the favourable wind conditions of the area makes 'Heatherhill' an ideal place for paragliders. The wind also creates good conditions for windsurfers.
Worth a visit
 The amusement park 'Nordsjællands Sommerpark' in Græsted is a cornucopia of amusements and activities for both children and adults. Among other things it offers a jungle path and a water world (5 km).
Go on a tour on the farm 'Smidstrup-Farmen' - a farm with all domestic farm animals (8 km).
Helsinge is an active and cosy commercial town with sights, pedestrian street, fountains, shops and restaurants (10 km).
Visit Gilleleje with the old quarter, the small fishing houses and the evocative harbour (11 km).
At the museum 'Rudolf Tegners Museum' in Dronningmølle the plaster and marble sculptures of the sculptor Tegner are exhibited (19 km).
The old Cistercian convent 'Esrum Kloster' from the year 1151 has a beautiful convent garden and a small convent pharmacy. The convent is scenically situated by the lake 'Esrum Sø' (23 km).
Excursion spots
In North Sealand you will find more interesting castles. With its towers and spires the castle 'Frederiksborg Slot' (24 km) looks like something out of a fairy-tale. The castle 'Fredensborg Slot' (28 km) is the summer residence of the Queen Margrethe. The castle Kronborg Slot is situated by the 'gate' to the sound 'Øresund' (39 km).
Louisiana in Humlebæk is a museum for modern art. The unique museum buildings and the beautiful old park create interesting settings for the art (38 km).
The 'Karen Blixen Museum' at Rungstedlund has been established with gallery, exhibitions, the private living rooms of Karen Blixen, a slide department, a library room and a café (40 km).
Experience the capital Copenhagen with the vivid culture life, museums, music, theatres, galleries, the pedestrian street 'Strøget' and sights like the Tivoli, a planetarium, the art museum 'Carlsberg Glyptotek', the castle 'Rosenborg Slot' with the crown jewels, København Zoo and much more (71 km).
