Nyrup is situated close to a lovely beach and the cosy commercial town Nykøbing Sjælland.
 The holiday house area of Nyrup Strand is situated in the district 'Odsherred', in the northern corner of western Sealand, right by the Kattegat. The village Nyrup is situated a couple of km inland behind the coast. The area offers beach, lovely nature as well as more sights and leisure activities for everyone in the family. It is possible to buy groceries in Nyrup, and only a few km from here, Nykøbing Sjælland offers a number of shops, restaurants and events.
Beach
The lovely beach of Nyrup is both sandy and stony and has grassy hills at the back. The beach is connected with the beaches 'Klint Strand' towards west and 'Nykøbing Nordstrand' towards east. The beach is very suitable for children, as the water is shallow by the edge.
The bay 'Sejrøbugt' offers a number of lovely bathing beaches with the Blue Flag, like i.a. 'Lumsås Strand' and 'Gudminderup Strand' with small dunes are available (5-6 km). The beaches of the bay are suitable for children and offers good conditions for windsurfers.
Don't miss the magnificent sunset over the sea from one of the beaches.
Nature
The varying and undulating landscape of the area, which was formed during the ice age, forms a great contrast to the level areas, which surround the inlet 'Lammefjord'. Lovely nature experiences await you in this area.
The hilly area 'Klint Bakker' is a quite unique nature area with good walking paths.
By the forest 'Ulkerup Skov og Overdrev' (by Nykøbing Sj.) old house sites, fences and a village pond from a forest village are still visible.
The area around the beach 'Hønsinge Lyng' is preserved, but can be visited. Lovely nature surroundings, plantations with pines as well as a hilly and varying landscape surrounds the area.
By Hovvig, east of Nykøbing, you can experience an interesting bird sanctuary.
Activities
The area is rich in golf courses, and you can try out the ones of i.a. 'Højby Golfbane' (3 km), 'Mensalgård Pay & Play-bane' with 9 holes (3 km) and 'Odsherred Golfklub' (5 km).
Anglers will find good opportunities for a haul along the shore or on the sea onboard a fishing vessel, which sails out from Sjællands Odde (20 km) or Havnsø (37 km). Furthermore, 3 Put & Take fishponds are available in the area.
In Nykøbing Sjælland you can bowl in a bowling alley, which also offers entertainment for the youngest in the family.
The area is ideal for walks and bicycle trips.
Worth a visit
The passage grave by Højby is one of the best preserved graves in the country. The passage grave has 2 chambers, is 4.5 metres high, has an external diameter of 26 metres and functioned as burial chamber for 98 people (3 km). The exhibition from the excavation can be seen on the nearby 'Stenstrup Museum' (2 km).
Nykøbing Sjælland is a cosy marked town with a pedestrian street, various shops and pavement cafés and good, cultural offers. The amusement park 'Sommerland Sjælland' by Nykøbing offers more than 60 activities for the whole family, like a cosy canoe trip, a wild ride in the roller coaster or a visit to the largest water world in Sealand (3 km).
Visit the mill 'Lumsås Mølle', which is a working mill museum, where the flour is still milled in the old-fashion way. Experience the impressive constructions, the beautiful interior and buy flour with you home (6 km).
The area is rich in galleries, studios, workshops and exhibitions, as many craftsmen inhabit this area.
Excursion spots
In the zoo 'Odsherreds Zoo Dyrepark' by Asnæs you can experience 600 animals, divided on 100 species (22 km).
Go on a ferry trip from Havnsø (36 km), across the bay `Sejrøbugt¿ to the island Sejerø, which has Denmark's mildest climate, a hilly landscape, many small bathing beaches as well as more passage graves and a monolith.
'Lejre Forsøgscenter' consists of 4 houses and 8 small workshops from the iron age. Here you can sail in dugout canoes, chop wood with an iron age axe and mill flour (58 km).
At the viking museum 'Vikingemuseet' in Roskilde you can experience ships from the viking age, copies of viking ships as well as other Scandinavian commercial boats (68 km).
Visit the capital Copenhagen with the vivid culture life, museums, music, theatres, galleries, the pedestrian street 'Strøget' and sights like the Tivoli, a planetarium, the art museum 'Carlsberg Glyptotek', the castle 'Rosenborg Slot' with the crown jewels, København Zoo and much more (100 km).
