Melby is situated on North Sealand, surrounded by sea, lake, lovely nature, holiday towns and one of Denmark's best golf courses.
 Kilometres of sandy beach, Denmark's largest lake 'Arresø' as well as the attractive 'Asserbo Golfklub' surround the holiday area Melby. Melby is situated about 4 km from the holiday town Liseleje, where you will find cosy shops, inviting ice cream stalls and more good restaurants, and 9 km from the ferry town Hundested.
When you spend your vacation in Melby you can swim, fish, play golf, walk, drive on bicycle or visit some of Sealand's many towns and interesting sights.
The nearest larger town is Frederiksværk, which is located about 6 km from Melby, and here you will find shops, restaurants, leisure activities, galleries and sights for the whole family.
Beach
The beach between Melby and Liseleje is a lovely, child-friendly and sandy beach with tempting bathing water and dunes in the hinterland. The beach has the Blue Flag, and during the school holidays, a lifeguard keeps an eye out for the holidaymakers by Liseleje. Along the beach surfers will find good conditions as well.
Nature
 'Melby Overdrev' is a lovely peace of nature with dune plantation, forest, paths and more rare plants.
'Tropegården' in Melby is a lovely garden with beautiful plants, tropical birds, monkeys, coatis, goats etc.
With a water surface of 40 square km the lake 'Arresø' (6 km) is the largest lake in Denmark. Here you can walk and drive on bicycle along the lake. The route around the lake is 50 km long. It is also possible to go on a cosy sail on the lake.
The hills 'Tibirke Bakker' (13 km) are a lovely and preserved nature area with heathery hills. From a viewpoint in the area you can enjoy the great view of the lake 'Arresø', the forest 'Gribskov' and a bite of the inlet 'Roskilde fjord'.
'Gribskov' (app. 25 km) is one of Denmark's largest forests. Here you will find a number of marked walking and bicycle routes as well as more scenic and historic places. By Gribskov you will also find the lake 'Esrum Sø', which is scenically surrounded by an untouched landscape.
Activities
In the neighbouring town Liseleje you can experience arrangements kite festival, market days and Midsummer night with torchlight procession and a large fire on the beach.
In North Sealand you can choose between a number of golf courses, and the nearest is the one of 'Asserbo Golfklub' (3 km) - one of Denmark's oldest and best golf courses. The course is situated in a lovely nature area by the hill 'Arrenakke Bakke' and offers challenges for both beginners and experienced golf players.
Anglers will find good opportunities for coastal fishing all along the coast of North Sealand.
Visit 'Grønnehavegård' in Frederiksværk, which is a cosy farm with thatched roof from 1836 with a few domestic animals. Riding and tractor trips across the fields area arranged from here (6 km).
By Rågeleje (21 km) you will find the area 'Heatherhill'. The steep slopes and the favourable wind conditions of the area makes 'Heatherhill' an ideal place for paragliders.
Worth a visit
 Around Melby you will find no less than 5 bronze age mounds.
The castle 'Asserbo Slot' was erected by monks in the 12th. century, but sanded up in the 16th. century. Today you can still see traces of the castle and the moats by the castle ruin, which is surrounded by scenic nature (3 km).
At the old fire station 'Frederiksværk Brandværnsmuseum' you can experience hand drawn, horse drawn and motorized fire pumps (6 km).
The town museum 'Frederiksværk Bymuseum' contains an archaeological collection as well as an exhibition about the industry, craft and trade of the older days. Experience i.a. a genuine general store from the beginning of the 20th. century.
'Krudtværksmuseet' is a combined regional and open-air museum. Here you will find a functioning watermill and more original workshops.
Helsinge is a vivid and cosy commercial town with sights, museums, a pedestrian street, fountains, shops and restaurants (16 km).
Excursion spots
The amusement park 'Nordsjællands Sommerpark' in Græsted is a cornucopia of amusements and activities. Among other things it offers a jungle path and a water world (25 km).
Visit the old fishing town Gilleleje with the old quarter, the small fishing houses and the cosy, evocative harbour (30 km).
At the museum 'Rudolf Tegners Museum' in Dronningmølle the plaster and marble sculptures of the sculptor Tegner are exhibited (34 km).
The museum of Karen Blixen at the estate 'Rungstedlund' has been established with galleries, exhibitions, the private living rooms of Karen Blixen, a slide department and a library (45 km).
Louisiana in Humlebæk is a museum for modern art. The unique museum buildings and the beautiful old park create interesting settings for the art (46 km).
Visit the capital Copenhagen with sights like Tivoli, Planetarium, Eksperimentarium, the art museum 'Carlsberg Glyptotek', the castle 'Rosenborg Slot', København Zoo etc. (61 km).
